Dell just announced new Alienware M14X with all sorts of options:

(all SB Chips) i3-2310M to i7-2820QM
    Full HD or regular 1366x768
    Nvidia GT555M 3 GB (!!!!)
and ofcourse the different lightings that Alienware offer

Seems to me that if HP doesn't refresh their envy fast, atleast I am going to jump the m14x bandwagon!

If they release pricing within the next month or so, I may reconsider my Envy 17 purchase. It'll have to priced pretty aggressively, and we'll have to see how that 555m compares to the 6850m

As for pricing, given the fact that m11x starts at $599 and m15x starts at $1200 (but old chips) I would say m14x would start at $999 like the envy but with basic configuration

It's a decent spec but I couldn't purchase an Alienware due to the design. I'd much prefer something sleeker like the Envy 14 or Macbook Pro.

I totally agree. I want something that looks at home in a boardroom. Alienware's design screams gamers and youth.

I wouldn't call Alienware/Dell's offering competition. It is an alternative choice, but the brand and looks target a limited demographic compared to HP's and the envy.

100% agreed. Alienware is no competition to Envy, it is a totally different category of equipment.

That much power in a 14" laptop would be tempting, but I'd be concerned about battery life, weight, thickness, design, and heat profile.

Dell/others need to release a 13-15", SB processor, ~1" thick laptop with decent styling, 5+ hr battery life, solid build, dedicated graphics capable of playing newer games but nothing crazy, and a good trackpad. Finally dont fill it with crap bloatware to ruin it all.

    Doesnt seem too difficult.

M11x weights a pretty hefty 4 and half pounds. If that scales to a 14in and add an optical drive, you'll be looking at pretty close to 6lbs for a 14in. Way to heavy imo.
