Hi, I recently downgraded from XP and now I'm getting this beeping noise. It's not coming from the speakers I think its the independent speaker from the motherboard that's making the noise (because I haven't got the sound drivers installed yet) so for example, if I click exit on notepad with words typed in I get an annoying noise when I exit. How do I stop the beeping noise? I tried going to bios but the feature to disable the beeping noise isn't there.

Hi neofx19. I'm not sure what would be causing the beep but what exactly do you mean you "downgraded from XP"? Do you mean downgraded TO XP? As in FROM Vista? If so did you do a clean reinstall of XP?

First I would recommend checking to see that all the drivers have been installed starting with the Chipset. If the Beep continues I would suggest that you try reseating the RAM. If you have multiple sticks of RAM try them one at a time. *You might want to contact your laptop manufacturer prior to reseating the RAM to make sure that opening the laptop up will not void your warranty.* If that doesn't help you might want to call your Tech Support Center for help as they are often aware of issues on specific models and might be able to offer you a quick solution. Hope this helps.

It sounds like Windows is using the system default beep for sound alerts. Try going to the Control Panel, and going to Sounds and Audio Devices, and see what you can find there.
