Many of you mayve read my experience with HP last summer, which resulted in HP replacing a continually defective L2000 notebook with a new CTO DV2700tv including a new free 3yr ADP. ( http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=270011)
As fate would have it, my daughter recently took her notebook to school on the last day of classes and somehow the unit was damaged. Actually, we think that perhaps another student sat on her backpack where the notebook was stored but aren't really sure. Ouch . But the obvious damage was that the left lid hinge was cracked, the lighted power button was smashed, the speaker grill was cracked and the keyboard had popped out a bit. Not so good but at least it still ran.
I notified HP on a Wednesday, the return shipment box arrived the next day and the FedX guy was kind enough to wait while I put it in the box for the return trip to Houston. We were told to expect 9 business days for repairs (meaning two weeks) but to my surprise the unit came back the following Wednesday morning via FedX.
With crossed fingers we opened the box. WOW . It was returned as if it never happened. New lid and hinges, speaker grill, hard drive, and assorted other parts. I did a fresh OS install, installed the backup data, and all has been functioning without issue for a couple of weeks now. It looks and works perfect and I couldnt be happier with the service HP provided through ADP.
The one thing that is slightly different is that prior to the unit being returned, CPUZ showed C2D T8100 in the processor name block. Since the repair it shows C2D T8100/P7350. Also, where it use to show near (but just under) 2.1 Ghz , it now goes to 2285.4 Mhz. Same BIOS (F.2E) but either a different hotprocessor, MB, or both seem to have also been installed because I dont seem to remember it ever showing a P7350 before or a clock that high? Thoughts ..

), you received a better computer than the one you sent in? If this is the case, you should be happy. HP sometimes just gives out upgraded units instead of repairing old units. That's what happened to me. Sounds like the same thing happened to you.
Glad you had a good experience. Always nice to see the good, not just the bad. I have had great luck with HP too, and hopefully others will have the same. -
Did you have accidental damage warranty or just regular warranty? I've heard that if a part needs replacing and HP doesn't have it, they substitute with the closes match, sometimes that means a better part than before.

For what it's worth, my proc shows up in CPU-Z as "Intel Mobile Core 2 Duo T8100 P7350." Under Specification it's identified as a [email protected], but the actual clock speed of both cores is constantly fluctuating. I've seen from 1196 to 2293MHz just now.
Notebook is a bit more than a year old. -
I do not know about the service too much but i have found hp lappys to be the best brand i have used.
Good for you if your happy with replacement. -
as long as you are covered in warranty, HP will fix anything.
