This is my first HP and I really like my HP other then the 3 problems within the first month of owning it. The computer became corrupt and needed a reformat and the recovery counsel was corrupt so I had to wait a week.
Now my Hard Drive is making a clicking noise for about two min and the Hard Drive light stays constant on at that time. The computer becomes somewhat lag/frozen, but the mouse still works. This happens about 1:30 after logging on. I have run a Virus Scan, Windows Defender Scan, Windows Memory Check and a CHKDSK, all come back with no problems. Does anyone know whats going on? After the click it seems to work great, and clicks very infrequent. Any Help? Is this normal with a HP. I have dv2500t less than a month old.
How to people copy the task manager process items into the forums? I would like to do that.
Thanks

Clicking is the sound of your drive head docking or undocking. Clicking is especially normal in laptops with G sensors that detect when a laptop is in freefall (so it can dock the head to prevent a head crash which basically is catastrophic to whatever data is stored on the area of the platter that it comes in contact with). When hard drives power down, they can click, and when they power back up they click. Laptops do this frequently (but usually only when going idle or returning from idle) to save power.
Consumer HP's don't have G sensors, so it's obviously not that. But it's possible that it's simply going idle and returning from idle.
Clicking can also be a sign of hard drive failure, which is plausible in your case. You probably should determine what make your drive is and download a disk utility ISO from their web site. Most manufacturers offer them on their web sites with the exception of Seagate, who, the last time I checked, were working on a new utility that bridges the gap of support between Seagate and WD models, and didn't have one available. Once you find it, burn the image to a CD, and boot to it. Then perform a health scan (or whatever it is they call it). If there's a problem, it should find it.
Another Problem? HDD Clicking
