I have a refurbished 6870 (dv6700 family) and I never even tried the remote until today. The battery reads 2.96V (3V max) and I have re-installed the quick launch drivers and still nothing. I even tried the 'remove the battery and power' trick and that did not work either. Its not a deal killer, but so annoying since this is a replacement for a notebook they 'tried' to repair twice.

    Any ideas?

    1) If you can get your hands on another remote try it and try yours on the other laptop
    2) I'd go check if all your other drivers and bios are current as well, refurbished to many dealer mean they polished it and maybe use put a fresh copy of the O/S on it.
    Select software and drivers

Son of a gun...it was the battery. I went to Staples and they let me try a battery before I bought it and it worked. Weird...the voltage meter said 2.96V..

I'd still check you s/w & drivers for currency seeing it's a refurbished unit
