How's the anti-glare full HD on the Pavilion dv6? As an advanced configuration, I've never seen it in person at any computer store, so I can only go by what people tell me online. How is it? Is it just as good as any other full HD screen, such as Sony's CB? Is it truly anti-glare like on a Mac?

Those of you with a dv6 with full HD, are you satisfied with it?

This old codger is happy with it! Definitely matte, good viewing angles, and plenty bright.

Hi, I got my dv6z 6100 sometime August. I got the one with FullHD matte display.

The trouble is, when the display is being turned off by the power plan settings, i.e. idle mode timer, some flickering horizontal white lines appear. At first there are many white lines in the middle of the screen. After a while the many lines turn into one, that flickers in the top part of the screen.
Note that this doesn't appear when the screen is constantly on. Also, it doesn't happen every time the screen goes off. And it usually dissapears for some time when I close or move the lid.

My guess so far is that it's most likely the inverter, cable or both. Well, it could be the case of defect mobo or screen but I prefer not letting these 'bright' thoughts into my head. Oh, still haven't tried external monitor.

Otherwise I'm prefectly happy with the quality, viewing angles, brightness and color reproduction... :D Also, pretty unnoticeable glare.

So, if I have a dv6z with a 768p screen, is it possible to replace it with the matte 1080p screen you have? Or is the mobo different? If replacing it is a possibility, what part number is your screen?

It should be entirely possible to update it, but don't know part number of the screen, I'd have to remove the bezel and panel, and not about to do that without good reason. Looks like a lot of work to remove the LCD.

According to the service manual the part number is: 654103-001 which is currently unavailable from the HP parts store and no pricing info: HP Parts Store - HP Computer Parts - HP Printer Parts - Compaq Parts

Although pretty much any 15.6" LED backlit display should work.

I was worried about the screen too. I was able to find it at MicroCenter and I was amazed. Definately the best laptop screen I have ever seen (except for IPS). Obviously when at 1080p the text is small, but crisp. Viewing angles are great as well as contrast and brightness. It has a cool blue temp to it, but I have always tried to get my monitors to look like this, I hate the warm red tones on my whites. It is a great panel and if it is too small for you to read, you can just switch the res down to the 1366. It is a must buy for this laptop.

    Wow, thanks guys!

I know the text is small and I've had to deal with that before, I think I can get used to it.

My problem is that I'm having trouble deciding between the new Sony VAIO SE and this HP dv6tse with 1080p screen. Both are anti-glare and both are about the same price. So it's going to be tough...the Sony has a backlit keyboard though I really like that and it's "sleeker"...but Sony fans annoy me so much with their constant changing of revving speeds...

    Hmm...I'm not sure... :(

It's not the inverter, because LED backlights don't use them. Probably the cable.

I run a dv7tqe, but same basic screen from the same maker. I in love. It is a fantastic screen, excellent viewing angles, great brightness, clear and crisp text.

I looked at the Sony also. But it is bigger and heavier.
The HP also has a better graphics chip, though AMD.
I like the screen on the HP better than the Sony, so
unless you need NVIDIA go HP.
