I've had a 3/4-inch hairline crack above the wireless indicator lights on the lower left corner of my dv9000t since a few weeks after I bought it. I can't remember how, but I'm certain I caused it. It doesn't affect performance in any way, and doesn't bother me enough to subject it to the swirling vortex of uncertainty that is HP Repair. So, my question is, is there some kind of clear epoxy, goo, clear coat, nail polish ... whatever ... that I can use to "seal it" in some way? I really don't give a crap about what it looks like, as long as it isn't glaringly hideous.

Put clear nail polish on it so that the crack does not continue to spread

I would a fine coat of plastic cement. Testors model glue works really well and dries clear.

When I got cracks on my old Toshiba E830 PocketPC, I used Krazy Glue/equivalent.

I would suggest a clear epoxy, and you could also embed a small piece of window screen in it. That will reinforce the repair and help to prevent more stress on it. You'll have to see how that looks, depending on where the crack is.

The crack is on what HP calls the "Top Cover," on the same surface as the touchpad, in the lower left corner near the wireless/hard drive LED lights as you're looking down at the keypad. Anyone know what kind of plastic this is? (ABS? Something else?) Is it plastic? Thanks.
