After a year and half of serious usage I'm getting painfully tired of the laptop...
- At 50% cpu clock speed - 1Ghz (got a T2500) I get 60ºC temps...
- The moment I setup for full load, 70ºC-80ºC temps seem to be the norm no matter the ambient temperature
- The VGA-out and TV-out seem to have an seriously annoying "flicker" or bands that while not very noticeable, surely don't do good to ones eyes...
I'm considering opening it up, once I get a new pair of 2x1GB DDR667 and hope that the fans are full of dust and that maybe some decent thermal paste will help.
Anybody that already done this in this model (dv5296ea) please do let me know!
Thanks

Year and a half! I'm amazed at the furballs I get when cleaning atleast every 6mo [thoroughly for >2min w/a compressor], do your fans even still turn? Both VGA and S-Video have flicker? Can you adjust the refresh rate or upgrade video drivers to fix? There's some posts around here about modded video drivers. Probably won't need to mess with thermal paste or pad, just a good douching hopefully works, and 2GB will be very nice.

I hope I can expect some massive improvements on the temps area then
The fans do work but make such an massive sound my ears bleed (well almost)
How did you opened yours (I mean how much of it have you de-assembled (sp) it?
Both screen and VGA-out (and TV-out) flicker but outputs are worse, I'm using some modded drivers (from desktop to laptop).
Any DV5000 owners around? (High temps and output issues)
