Question, is there any advantage to leaving your laptop on the high performance profile while it is plugged in and just surfing the web??

Not really... just costs more electricity and degrades the battery that much faster.

Videos might run smoother. Make sure you have good air circulation 'cause it's going to run hotter. Better yet get a cooler pad.

DV9730ca....on High Performance the fan runs all the time. I switched back to Balanced and the fan is off mostly. I never noticed any difference in performance.

I have to ask, why all this talk about removing the battery? Batteries are much better designed and it is not required to remove the battery. I have a three year old zv6005us and trust me it is and was on all the time. The battery still holds a charge for well over two hours on high performance. The most important thing you can do is to completely discharge the battery every now and then and then recharge it.
