This, my friends, is a result of playing FPS in tropical weather... (My sweats   )

I tried to clean it with some 70% alcohol using cotton swab -> didn't work much
then Mr. Clean soap  -> worse.....

The layer of brown paint has wear out. Tough luck.

You may well have worn down the suface. I never clean my 2nd Gen Envy with anything but water and a soft cloth

My Envy 15 11xx is the same where I rest my left palm. Too much gaming I guess...

Not much to do about it.

Oh well :( ! Let me show you guys how I effectively counteract with the heat after that smudge became more visibe

And I undervolt the GPU to .700, quite stable I must say (overclock to 575, 1050 VRAM). Temperature never goes beyond 72C when stressing with BF3

You can't do anything with heat issue on the palmrest. Especially if you have a quad core. I had the same laptop last year, and the only thing I did in order to prevent heat issue was to swap from i7 to i5 and this literally changed my life ^^

    Hi!
    Very cool mod.
How you have done to undervolt the 4830 to .700?
    Thanks!

You swap from i7 to i5 on envy 15 1st gen? It is possible? What model of i5 you use?
    Thanks!

Even better, try a trackball mouse + external NumPad or Nostromo - great combination for gaming on the envy.

Since it's made out of metal, the entire case acts as a heatsink.

Just run ati tray tool, it's the only software I know that can undervolt this thing. As for the CPU, I believe you can swap to the very first gen i5. But if you do, try to sell the i7 ..

The Ati tray tool allows me to chose between 0.900 or 0.950 from the list. I check with "AMD GPU Clock Tool" and it shows me correctly my selection.
The problem is that when I try to change the voltage with a custom VDDC of 700 (0.700V) nothing happens. When I check the voltage with "AMD GPU Clock Tool" it shows me only 0.900 V. You can see on the picture:

Also I try to change the voltage to 0.500 and lower values to know if the GPU freeze but nothing happens.

    Thank you!

Hmm not sure, but I have the 5830. If you tried it in ATT and it changed back then bad luck to you...
