    Hi, folks
I am kind of interested in installing a Lunix OS, which needs to be compatible with XP pro on my dv6000t. Any comment or recommendation?
    Thanks, guys!

btw, what's the best Lunix OS so far? I only had some experience on Redhat, but I'm open to other Lunix systems.

LINUX. THE KERNEL IS CALLED LINUX. Sheesh.

Anyway, I'd suggest www.ubuntu.com and download the 6.10 version of that.

LOL. Easy, dude. I will second the recommendation of ubuntu 6.10, but if you have a lot of experience with redhat, give gentoo a shot if you want to spend some time compiling it : )

Suse is another good distro. You can also try the livecd, works from boot without install so if you don't like it nothing has happened.

Ubuntu 6.10 will install a bootloader and work flawlessly with XP.

I use BootIt NG to make a partition, then I run the Ubuntu CD and do the rest.

BootIt is shareware. You can make the ISO image with it (very easy, it walks you through it), burn it to CD. Then when you boot the computer it will ask you to install BootIt. Just click cancel and you can do partition work without installing it ;)

Just use BootIt to shrink your Windows partition, then go into Ubuntu and it will walk you through the rest.
