I just got my Hp EMVY 17 3D (Sandy Bridge) and am looking to buy some dual layer DVDs. I've been burned in the past by odd compatibility issues between burners and media. Can anyone give me a known good brand of DL DVDS that work with the blu-ray combo drive in the ENVY (assuming its the same as the previous gen 17 and 17 3D)?

I've had great success with these, just tried them to double check.

    Verbatim Storage media - DVD-R DL - 4x 8.5 GB

Preferred by DVD drive manufacturers, Verbatim DVD media continues to set the standard for high-speed disc performance, reliability, and compatibility. DVD-R Dual Layer nearly doubles the storage capacity with two AZO recording layers on a single-sided disc. Compatible and supported by dual layer hardware from Pioneer, Plextor, Sony & other leading 2X-4X Dual Layer manufacturers. Store up to 8.5GBs of video while maintaining compatibility with most DVD video players or DVD-ROM drives.
