Is there any significant reason not to get a Dv5t for gaming/college (music performance/edu major)/ art?

-I know the battery life CAN be poor if its set to performance

-i know the infinity screen causes glare, but my last monitor did too, i just bought an anti glare sticky thing thats also a screen protector.

-The Nvidia GeForce 9200M GS. It's going to be my first ever non-integrated graphics. Even though it has the whole hybrid thing, im excited.

    -Looks awesome

-Intel @2.0 is amazing compared to my 1.4ghz @ 512mb ram

-tried out the keyboard, its flawless!

    -great speakers for a lappy

-light, fairly durable from the reports ive seen.

    -Doesnt get CRAZY hot.
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------

so is there ANY huge drawback?

It's a great notebook Musician. However, if you are purchasing it online then grab the 9600m GT. It will future proof your computer for another year or two. the 9200 is not for gaming, just everyday use. The 9600m GT will be able to play all of the current games on moderate settings.

As for the hybrid function in the Nvidia graphics cards, those are a no. Hp will not be supporting that.

Other than that, I wish you lots of luck and a fun 4 years in college.

Warm, yes. Crazy hot, No. I think this is a great laptop with alot of nice features for the price. Has a nice new look as well. Throw in the tv tuner and this is the perfect one solution for the college dorm room :)

well ill be commuting, so i need the battery life. and i think if this pc, which is a few years old with integrated graphics, can play my games, the 9200 dedicated will have NO trouble at all.
    and thank you.
im commuting, but its good that it doesnt get hot, and im using all this for reason to get it with my dad

I was looking into getting a dv5t also, mind explaining how well it matches up against some of the latest stuff?

Also, any compelling reason to get a dv7t over a dv5t?

I got the DV7T because of the bigger screen. The specs are fairly similar.

Every time I try to update drivers I'm getting error: "The Nvidia Setup program could not locate any drivers that are compatible with your current hardware. Setup will now exit."

What is the problem?? Anybody can help me?

I tried couple different drivers and all of them show the same error.
I'm getting 4.8 score only having 9600M GT. Just want kick it up a little bit. I reinsatlled Vista and all drivers from original setup I download to C:\drivers

You have to use a modded .inf file.

Yeah, Nvidia and even Ati dont directly support many of the mobile GPU's. So, driver releases dont contain the inf's to install on mobile GPU's eventhough the drivers are universal.
