I'm trying to decide on a notebook and I'm strongly considering the 6000t. Does anyone have any regrets about buying it? If so, why? Thank you.

Tarny,
So far, just about everything is positive. So, I will cover only the negatives...Keep in mind, I have only had the dv6000t for about 4 days, and haven't had much time to really make it work.
1) I am really having A LOT of trouble getting used to the trackpad mouse. On most notebooks, the trackpad is textured and almost has a bit of a grainy feel to it. On the dv6000t, the trackpad has the exact same feel as the exterior of the notebook and the area surrouding the keys: Very smooth and glossy. Now, aesthetically this is one of the best parts of the notebook. It is beautiful, and very sleek looking. But, the trackpad should not have the same feeling. This is MAJOR design flaw (or at least I think it is), and not only does the trackpad feel awkward to the touch, but it is very tempermental.
2) My previous notebook was an Inspirion, and although it had a lot of software related problems, it ran very silent. The dv6000t, in my opinion, is not particularly quiet. The main reason for this is that the fan is almost constantly running. I'm still trying to figure out if this is a problem, or if this is common with all the dv6000t's. Also, the Core 2 Duo processor emits a very highpitched ringing sound when it is idling. It is faint, but is rather irritating. This can be fixed however by installing the RMClock Application.
On the topic of sound, the quickplay buttons above the keys make a terrible beep when you push them. I think this can be disabled, but I'm not sure how as of yet.
That's basically it for now. If you look at the big picture, these criticisms are relatively small (especially if you plan on using a regular desktop mouse). The performance so far is exceptional... -
No complaints from my dv6000t purchase.
Just one thing, Nscohen. On you machine, when you press down on the top left corner, just above the monitor output sign, does that part seem weak or loose? Mine, when I press down on it , it creaks and seems not properly supported. -
Yes Promethues, I did notice that...And it's only on that left side, not on the right.

6000z feels a bit weak there too.

Thank you all for the feedback.
At this point, I'm still trying to decide between the Dell E1505 and the HP DV6000t. With various discounts/coupons/free upgrades, the prices for both laptops are nearly identical at this time (for essentially identical configurations). The E1505 comes in slightly cheaper (by less than $50).
I certainly like to look of the HP better except I don't like the 12-cell battery sticking out (I want this option). The screen/lid protection seems better on the E1505 (when I push on the back of the lid). If one of brands was clearly superior in quality/reliability, then I would go with that one. But, I'm not sure if one is. -

No regrets at all - I'm very happy with it. I was originally going to get the E1505 but I liked the looks of the dv6000 more, and I got the sense it was of more durable build quality.
I notice the same thing prometheus did, but I think it's a minor issue. As for the trackpad, my finger seemed to stick to it at first, but I eventually got used to it and it's easier to use now. -
PCMAG in its review says the battery life is very poor. Thats odd for a Core 2 duo + a 15 inch screen. has anyone experienced that?

Hey guys, well I really liked this laptop, but I'm going to have return it for the following reason. I must have gotten a bad optical drive because the audio on cd's and dvd's skip and is distorted everytime I play it. Also, when watching a DVD movie, the video skips as well. This to me is not acceptable so I will be returning it. It is a nice computer overall though.

Mine felt that way too, but I pressed on it lightly and it seemed to "snap in", and now it's as tight as the right side. -

Yeah I'm glad I had it customized and ordered through Costco so now I can just return it to one of their stores and not have to worry about shipping.
Any regrets for buying DV6000t?
