I am not too impressed with the quality of sound that my V3000z makes, either through built-in speaker or headphone. It's not bad, but I remember my previous toshiba laptop was sounding flat until I installed the realtek high-def audio driver...boy, That software made a big difference. Now, my V3000z doesn't come with realtek so I can't possibly install that software. So I am wondering is there another software that will do the same trick on V3000z?
I went to Conexant website, which supposely manufactured the sound card on my laptop, I couldn't find anything about audio on their website. Weird.

Btw, there seems to have some hissy sound in the background when I listen with my headphone, any way to eliminate that?

    Southbridge: nvidia 410/430 MCP.

    Hope that helps.

Yes, go to volume properties and reduce the wav down. The audio card has too much power when the wav volume is way up,meaning that it causes hissing sounds. Just lower the wav volume.

I haven't been able to find any software either. As for the hissing you might to make sure that the microphones are muted.

I'm bummed out that even at all the way up I can't hear my music if there is other noise in the background. This is on dv6000t

If you use ITunes for MP3's, then try the built in equalizer - works pretty good and really helps with the low end response. Also, the hissing sound could be from a number of sources. In addition to the recommendation above, you should mute any source you are not using in the audio properties expanded/advanced selection.

You have a serious adjustment problem buddy. Get a friend to check your computer, most likely it's something you overlooked. Good luck.

I had the same problem with low volume on my 6000 series notebook. I installed the updated driver from the HP support site and the volume is very loud now. The updated driver is sp34204.exe.
