I recently got Presario R3000z from HPShopping, and very happy with it in overall. But, the cursor on the screen is behaving really weird occasionally. I thought plugging in mouse will fix the issue, but I was wrong. Is there something that I can do about this, or it's something That I have to live with?
Thanks

assuming you mean, errAtic
try going to Start > Control Panel > Mouse and playing with settings there such as pointer speed to see if adjusting settings helps. You can also use the Troubleshoot feature that is there to see if that provides any guidance.

Since the problem happens with the GlidePad AND an external mouse, it seems to be a software problem. If after tweaking the settings as Abaxter suggested, it could be something else that you have installed that could be running in the background that could be causing this problem.
Have you tried booting in Safe Mode? Reboot system, Hit F8 right when XP screen appears & select Safe Mode. This will messup your ICON placement, but you will be able to test if it's the mouse drivers casuing the problem (since it loads a standard MS driver rather than the Synaptic driver or if it's someother loaded s/w in the background.
If it's an installed s/w in the background, re-boot system normally and run MSCONFIG from START -> RUN & goto StartUp Tab and uncheck everything in this box and restart and see if it fixes the problem. If it starts working again, re-enable each box one at a time until the problem starts again. This will be the cause.
Good Luck!

I had an issue when I installed the Logitech drivers for my Notebook Optical mouse. It had messed up the drivers for the Synaptics touch pad. I checked the Task Manager and could see that the Synaptics driver was using about 90% CPU so I ended uninstalling the touchpad drivers. I mostly use the optical mouse and occassionally use the touchpad. I ended up losing some functionality of the Synaptics driver (scroll button) but since I don't use it that often I could live with it.

yeah you may want to turn down the senesitivity on the mouse.
