I believe that these laptops from HP, unlike the Lenovo Thinkpads, do not have a "smart" automatic battery maintenance feature meant to maximize the life of the battery. In other words, if you've got the battery plugged in, the laptop is constantly charging it and topping it off at 100% all the time, which wears the battery out quicker than necessary.
So is it advisable to disconnect the battery sometimes while plugged into AC power (maybe plug it in every few days)?

If you're keeping your laptop plugged in for more than a week at a time, its probably better to remove the battery and keep it in a cool environment at 50%-30% charge. This also lessens any damage causes by the heat of the computer, which causes degradation a program can't prevent

I don't think thinkpads have any extra battery maintenance built in than any other laptop.. if they I"d be interested to learn about it
Any tips for battery maintenance?
