Is there any use for a cracked (in several places) HP Pavilion DV6500 LCD panel or does it have any kind of resale value? My guess is no, but I wanted to ask before I throw it into the trash. Does the HP6500 have to have this hooked up to it in order to run at all?

It does have a resell value and it should work without it hooked up. Just plug it into a monitor

Ok, thanks for letting me know about it having a resale value even cracked. :) Well I wish the LCD was the only thing wrong with it, I have this particular machine pretty much in pieces as I was looking at how to get to the power supply. That is what went out on this machine, after the LCD.

The backlight might be useful to other people, and maybe the connectors. Definitely try ebay, and mention (if) the light is going strong as ever, its just that the glass is cracked. Better than the junkyard anyway.

Thank for the advice! I notice the backlight stuff is a couple of dollars on Amazon. Will check out EBay and see what is going there as well.

If you are looking to get rid of the whole thing, also look at selling other parts seperately. RAM obviously. CPU. The casing (might not be much value in the casing). Keyboard. Fan&heatsink assembly.
