I've been saving up for a netbook the past few months but when I heard about the dv2 I decided to wait abit. Wasn't it supposed to be out around this time already?

Just found this and it seems it's been launched over in the Far East.

It states a starting price of 1299 SGD (= 858 USD approx.) which seems a little steep. I recall they stated a starting price of 699 USD.

As you can see, HP's dv2 page is completely devoid of useful information (other than photos)- LINK

The dv2 is supposed to be launched with a base price of $699 with integrated graphics. Dedicated graphics and other extras will be offered that will quickly raise that price, I'm sure.

The last I heard was a launch date of April.

The HP Mini 2140 was also supposed to finally get the 1366x768 LED option in "mid-March" but it hasn't materialized yet, either. I'm not sure if it's a supply issue or intended to build hype....

The dv2 and Mini 2140 with the 10.1" 1366x768 display are both very interesting and unique products. The dv2 seems to be what the Dell Mini 12 could and should have been.....and the high-res 2140 will be the first netbook with a display whose resolution isn't truncated down to 1024x600 or similar...if they ever get here!

I was at Office Depot today and they had one on display. I didn't get a chance to play with it since it was password protected, but I did get a second to look at the specs. The one they had was $799 with a $50 MIR and had 4gb of RAM and a 320gb Hard Drive. It's quite an attractive machine and was quite slim and sleek. If you want to check it out, I would suggest running by Office Depot and taking a look.

the flagship FutureShop location at Toronto Life Square (corner of Yonge and Dundas) in downtown Toronto, Canada now has the HP dv2 for sale. the price of $899 gets you:

    single-core 1.6Ghz Neo
    LED (1280 x 800)
    4GB RAM
    250GB HDD
    ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3410 w/ 512MB
    external DVD (read/write) drive

the overall Vista Experience Score is 3.4. form factor is quite nice, the trackpad is a bit sticky and the palm rests are warmer than i thought. lower priced model ($699) has 2GB RAM and integrated ATI X1240 graphics adapter.
