Has anybody gotten that nondescript brown box with the 8400M GS inside on their doorstep yet?

Hopefully when the first person gets theirs they'll be kind enough to review it and let us all know how the performance is :)

Mine should be on my doorstep by the 18th. I think that's about the earliest anyone will get theirs by.

I understand though. I really want my notebook to arrive soon also.

When did you order your notebook, Sid1? I ordered mine on June 6 and it says it will be shipped out by June 20. That's a really long time, even compared to other companies like Dell, which actually tell you how far into production/shipping they are.

Did you buy the HP Recovery DVD? I decided not to buy it right now because it delayed shipping on the dv6500t by a week.

Yeah I did purchase a Recovery DVD, not knowing HP hard drives have a hidden partition with the recovery files until after purchasing my DV6500T.

Why would a recovery DVD cause a longer shipping process? It's such a simple DVD to create..lol

I didn't order the recovery dvd either. Placed my order on the 1st day it was available, wed 6th. Estimated ship date is 14th. Hopefully the hp email saying it shipped will be sitting in my inbox when i wake up tomorrow.

That's odd...When I ordered mine the original ship date was June 22 and even when I added the Recovery DVD option, it remained at June 22. This sucks, now I have to wait longer because of a DVD!

I thought the DV2500T and DV6500T only supported 2GB of RAM?

Considering that the older dv6000t got a BIOS update to support 4GB of ram, it stands to reason that the new dv6500t already has this capability.

I ordered mine on 6/6 and is scheduled to ship on 6/15 but is still "in production".

I'm so anxious to get my new laptop. It would be great if it came on Friday, then I'd have all weekend to play with it :)

i am currently running the dv2500t with 4gb of memory - hp has told me many times that the dv2500t-6500t-9500t only supports 2gb, however this is WRONG. all 4gb shows in 64bit windows and 3gb shows in 32bit (4gb shows in the bios regardless)

no update was needed - didnt even turn on the computer for the first time before putting in the 4gb sticks

That's good, although it's strange how HP only says the MOBO supports 2GB...Well, it's going to be a awhile before I even get new RAM for my notebook, so I'm going to stick with my 2GB at the moment. ;)

    For 9500t, there's a 4GB DDR2 System Memory option, so that means 9500t definitely support 4GB memory.

    the index is: 5.2

and i used Super Talent brand - an auction from ebay, brand new sticks for $232 shipped! how could i not buy it?

UPDATE**:just bought crucial 4gb for $240 shipped - gonna resell the super talent. i figured crucial will have much better speeds and will definitely last longer so why not just resell this to a friend (a friend is paying the same price :) )

It's official, I sent back my "old" dv6000t to HP yesterday and I have to receive my new dv6500t around 24th this month (I hope...) so if by that time no one post a detailed review, I will, that is a promise.
