How many have the Compaq Presario V6000Z series?
I'd like to get some feedback on yours.

I'm extremely happy with mine. I heard so many negative things about Compaq in the past, so I held off getting one. This one looked so attractive inside & out so I couldn't resist buying one. It has run flawlessly since I got it 5 weeks ago and I run a lot of heavy-duty programs on it several hours every day.

I find it hard to believe no one on this forum has a Compaq Presario V6000Z series?

Your missing out as this is the best performing, looking notebook I've had to date. I've owned over 25 notebooks since my first Tandy 600 (1985) and the last two being the HP dv series.

lol u cant expect ppl to just reply straight away in a few days time especially with an "old" system, not everyone comes on daily ;)

search the forums there are quite a few who do own it.

I have the HP dressed up version (just a fancier finish with quickplay, but mostly same inards). I love this model. My only complaints are:

    1) D-Sub/VGA-out quality (might just be my notebook though) and resonating noise.
    2) Heat- under long, heavy use, the trackpad and area under it gets too hot for comfort.
    3) Screen- while it's clear, crisp, I find it slightly oversaturated and it also has poor horizontal viewing angles (as I suppose most laptop LCDs do) compared to my Samsung desktop LCD.
    4) No DVI-out.
    5) Very quiet (almost useless) integrated mic.
    6) Incompetent and overloaded level 1 and level 2 phone support.

Other than that, this model is a strong performer at a reasonable price. My pros about the DV6000Z:

    1) Price v. Performance & Features was unbeatable.
    2) Solid notebook. Very little flex and no cheap plastic creaking noises like my previous V2000Z.
    3) FedEx Overnight Express prepaid, prepackaged, fast turnaround repairs while under warranty.
    4) 1 hour-ish level 1 email tech support.
    5) Reasonable battery life.
    6) Good sounding speakers for a notebook.
    7) Very nice design.

Your sideswiping me again you jerk with the "old" system remark!

I bet mine is "newer" than yours as I got it 5 weeks ago.

    I should have left out the z & t. I meant any of the v6000 series. :)

    How do you like yours?

I really like the speed, keyboard feel, & crystal clear screen. My only lament is that it runs a tad hot and the fan comes on way more than I think it should. I might have to buy a notebook cooler. Other than that, it's GREAT !

Heat seems to be the prevailing issue with this series notebook. So, I'd say a cooling pad would solve that one. AND I notice that keeping the AC off the carpet helps some too.
