just wondering how the performance was.
Canyourunit.com told me i can run it on Recommended settings

I am beginning to think that this game will suck on 6770m, on dv6/dv7 at least. It's an OpenGL game and needs graphic drivers optimizations from amd. Eventually there will be for desktop boards but for notebooks I doubt it. Users bought it early mention various graphic issues like tearing and texture corruption.
Rage Tech Issues at release (PC 12AM 10/4/2011) - YouTube -
AMD has released optimized drivers for Rage.
AMD Catalyst? - Rage Performance Driver -
I updated the drivers only from the AMD Rage drivers install. I then did the texture tweaks from Nvidia's site (because I have the 2Gb 6770m). Guess what, it runs pretty damn good and looks good. Though sometimes crashes as the fan is running like crazy and the cores get to like 92 degrees each!
-
after installing rage drivers i put this config file ( View attachment rageconfig.zip ) in the base folder of the rage install location. It ran pretty perfectly after that.
-
well there has been a patch released that takes care of putting a config file in the base folder. giving you options for Vsync, Large Textures, etc.
but im still not impressed with the game, i thought it was suppose to have "Mega Textures"?
everything seems like a blurry mess up close
any word on a Hi res texture patch in teh future? -
yea me too, its like a game from 10 years ago. Plants on the ground are 2 dimensional like paper mario its ridiculous.
-
-
just download the amd package,
use custom install, UNCHECK all the options,
then CHECK just the drivers. Install
Done
P.S. I think Rage actually looks pretty good with the new patch.
In any case it can look MUCH better, is a very versitile engine, and
most importantly it makes good use of your quad cpu so the graphics
card is not the bottle neck anymore (great for our laptops). Rage is
just a great game engine for the future of powerfull cpus, SSDs, and
any half way decent graphics chip. Rage should have had shadows included,
and a more realistic, less cartoony look, but it is what it is, a decent fun game, and much better games like DOOM 4 to come with the id 5 engine. -
I'm on a Dv6t and Rage runs great but keeps crashing during action sequences. It doesn't seem to crash in the hub sections, but during the shooting sections it will just freeze up and not respond. Sometimes it crashes the moment I left mouse click, other times I can be involved in heavy action for up to half an hour, but the game always crashes eventually. I've tried stock drivers, 11.10 preview drivers and pretty much everything in between and it still keeps happening. If I run in windowed mode I can see after the crash that the 'display driver stopped responding and has recovered'. Is this happening with anyone else?
-
Ye, the game forces ati driver to restart. Same thing here. I'm on 11.10-2
-
Looks like playing in window solves the problem.
-
No luck with windowed mode here. Still getting frequent crashes.
-
My dv6t does crash, but I save often
No really, when I am running the game I think the cpu
is the main problem, when I come out of a crash the cpu cores
are like 92 degrees! Same with most multi-threaded games, though
Rage really pushes the CPU not GPU. The 6770m is wonky anyways,
I get random display drivers stopped responding and recoveries for
no reason at all sometimes. I was able to play at good framerates with
the latest ati rage drivers installed over the hp ones, hp ones wouldn't even start the game! Hello HP, update??
MAJOR SPOILER ALERT: DON'T READ ON
I really enjoyed the game until the end. Just like G4 and every reviewer out
there, I could not believe the ending. No great big boss like earlier in the game, nothing difficult, just horrible. First 99% of the game A+, last 1% of the game EPIC FAIL. I am old enough to remember the huge outrage of DOOM 3's monster in the closet formula. Does id software really have to resort to easy monster in the closet for the end of RAGE???? ?? -
No, its gpu drivers.
I used coolsence to enable cool mode and my cpu is maximum 75C and gpu 80C but still game crashes. -
Yeah, with the old drivers I could run Cinebench.
With the new Rage drivers it doesn't even start.
It is ridiculous having to switch drivers to do different tasks and games.
HP should update their drivers with every MAJOR driver update from AMD. -
Its not just rage driver, its beta driver to handle rage. Wait for official driver and then we will speak -
I had HD 5970 video card on my PC. It had the same problem because of Underclocking issue, and it could only be fixed with the New bios includes true clock and voltage settings.
Don't know what to do now really.
Please share your guidelines here. -
ya mine has been crashing as soon i as get on the ATV and try to head out the town. i am pissed, but will wait for another AMD driver update, and praying for a Hi res texture patch (fingers crossed)
-
Well, I have managed to solve the driver crashing problem, have to clean erase the old drivers, and then put the HP latest original driver.
Rage wont run if using HP driver, but the solution is get the latest OpenGL drivers and put the file in RAGE directory, every time RAGE starts up, it will use the OpenGL driver in the directory instead the old OpenGL..
I have zip the latest OpenGL drivers and put on mediafire, hope U guys enjoy the game!!
atioglxx.zip -
Tried that too, Atiolgxx.dll doesnt help it, it still gives error message randomly.
Really it's annoying. Anyone tried Gpu bios update? -
Code:[ATIADLHAL] UnofficialOverclockingEULA = I confirm that I am aware of unofficial overclocking limitations and fully understand that MSI will not provide me any support on it UnofficialOverclockingMode = 2 AccessibilityCheckingPeriod = 0 UnifiedMemoryUsageMonitoring = 1

-
Lets face it, ati sucks on drivers, especially on open gl part. And Karmak is an idiot cause he is using this dead technology. So 2 idiots meet each other on the road... Fail
-
I forgot.. after u've set UnofficialOverclockingMode = 2 you can't use the stock clock. Try overclock to 800/900 and check whether core and memory clocks graph is fluctuating.. if it is mean its not working.
-
Im on a fresh install of windows and use the latest ATI BF3 + Rage combined driver and i get zero crashes, but the game does still stutter a bit. Do you guys uninstall all drivers first then install driver from sw setup then install ATI fix? That was my method and it works fine.
-
edit:
whoops i posted twice by accident. -
Core and Memory clocks are not fluctuating by the way its straight.
Installed drivers are: Installd Hp Official Drivers from HP website first and then installed 11.09 Official Latest ati drivers from Ati website On it.
Edit: I'm not able to Install the Latest ati drivers or the 11.10-2 drivers first. I need to install HP officials first then the modified ones ON IT. It gives error while installing like ''Catalyst control center is not able to work with this drivers or cant recognize bla bla'' -
AMD Catalyst? 11.10 Preview Driver Version 2
and it all went just fine -
-
But why the hell it still crashes i didnt understand?
By the way, after installing 11 prev 2 drivers, COD or Bad company 2 runs freakingly slow. Games FPS is very high like 60 but gameplay is very low.
Mouse moves like 1 sec simultaneously -
I don't know.. the driver is still in beta anyway. I don't have Rage to test but BF:BC2 works nicely with DNA-AMD GFX 11.10.1-prev2 driver.
-
After installing it i restarted windows and upon log in the resolution was 800x600 and an error popped than no amd driver is installed. I installed the normal 11.10 prev2 and it worked again. -
-
I have updated to 11.10 driver and haven't installed the rage performance update from AMD (released during 11.9). Rage does not load the game and crashes with 11.10 (blue screen with red geometrics), do I need to install the performance update over 11.10 to make it work? Or is there something else I should know?
Thanks -
Here's how: Uninstall it.
Happiness is guaranteed.

Sorry for bringing this old thread back. I was getting the same errors that some of you related on this thread. After no success on some installs following tips that I've found on internet, I've finally reached http://support.bethsoft.com/eng/resolution.asp. In my case (running Win7-64 on a HP DV7 with 6770M graphics), the solution (right driver from ATI) worked fine. Hope it helps someone else.
Anyone Try RAGE on their 6770m? (dv7t)
