I just received an HP Pavillion dv6870. All the specs are nice, but the battery life is LOUSY. Even with a 12-cell battery I only get about 1 hour and 45 minutes battery life. I realize AMD chips and using wifi are both battery drains, but come on! Not even 2 hours?

It is a replacement for a defective notebook, so I doubt HP would be excited about replacing a replacement.

So, I am assuming by what you are saying that you had an HP, it had some problems and they decided to send you another correct? If so, you should have a case manager and you can contact them with your new notebook's S/N to see if it was a refurb. Most of the time if HP replaces it, it is a new unit, but mix ups can happen. You may also ask the case manager if they can send you a replacement battery.

Another option is to go to HP's support section of their website and download their battery program that re-scans the battery for its life and adjusts correctly as a battery naturally over time will sometimes "forget" about another part of it that can charge or is holding a charge and will show to the O.S. incorrect remaining battery life time frames.

Yes it is a refurb, but the battery is mine and it is brand new.
