I've been experiencing frequent reboots, and they seem to occur more quickly with the lid closed part way, so I'm thinking it may be a heat issue? I've swapped out my optical drive and moved the factory drive into that spot, while installing an SSD in the factory slot. I'm wondering if that may be causing the problem as well.

Did you update the BIOS to the latest version and are the reboots occurring randomly without warning? There is a possibility that the reboots are occurring due to failing video drivers, especially when it is trying to "switch" from the dedicated to the integrated.

My work laptop (A Dell Latitude E5500) reboots often in a random manner and it is due to its Intel graphics drivers.

Will check BIOS tonight, but it's a brand new Envy, so i'm hoping it should have the latest firmware. I've only seen it reboot once in person (while watching a and HD movie file). All the other times it has rebooted while I'm at work. It's nearly a daily occurance. I've had more reboots in a week then I've had in a year with my desktop computer.

It could also be a standby error. Sometimes sleeping a computer for a long time can cause it crash and reboot (which I have experienced too). Most of these issues should be addressed with a more recent BIOS. However, it does sound that your graphics setup seems to be the culprit, especially when your laptop reboots during a video.

But it doesn't reboot right away. I was about 30 minutes into the video when it rebooted. Then after that, I could finish the entire movie with no problems. Lid was partially lowered as it was blocking my view, but not closed. I'll check out the bios tonight as well

Just curious, exactly how can we check to see if we have the latest BIOS? ALso what version is the latest?

[fn][esc] keys together will bring up the BIOS version. Then just look on the HP driver site. Or, you could run HP Support Assistant and it will notify you of available BIOS/driver updates.

plan C is just going and hitting esc rapidly as you boot up, hit the "go into bios key" from that list of stuff you can do and then see what version you're on.

    F.23 is the latest bios
