Bought my laptop in late September... still waiting on a check. Can't remember if the rebate said 8 or 12 weeks. Anyway, how is HP with their rebates?

If anything, if you dont get it by mid january i would contact them. But i would say you would likely get it before or on Christmas.

Generally they are prompt. Did you get a confirmation email? I Think I submitted sometime in OCT I think I got confirmation email few weeks ago. You can check status here

Mines still in processing.

Mine's at step 1, was sent in end of November though.

I received an email stating that my MIR had been processed and that I would be receiving a check shortly. As promised it arrived in the mail quicker than they said it would and has since been cashed.
Truth be told, I'm not sure when I ordered my lappy or when I mailed in the info to qualify for the rebate (order date was about 5 days after the newest dv4000 model with the dedicated GPU was made available online, so whenever that was) and the MIR info was not sent in for a few weeks after I received my notebook. All-in-all, IMHO the MIR process with HP was above average...a rarity nowadays. -
I have the longest waiting. I have 2 HP rebates sent in the same mail drop in the early Aug. One rebate check received in early Oct, the 2nd one did not show up. I called them in mid Nov, they claims it must had been lost, which I doubt, asked me to resubmit. Two days later I did, my first thing after came back to office from post office was checking the website again , the original submission magically appears(was not the day before).
The rebate was changed from processing to approved only yesterday, almost another month later. Bad bad experience.
I hope after I post this, the rebate can change from approved to check mailed, after 4 months+ later and some of my leg works. And I know I'm not alone on this rebate offer (Cool student), perhaps, they know I'm almost grand to be a student. -

I pre-submitted mine on 11/29 (the 45th day AFTER I placed the order). Got the tracking number off the web immediately and send in the form printed from the web in the Post Office that evening. I got the confirmation e-mail today that it has been confirmed and it will take 2-4 weeks to receive my check.
Interestingly, I found out it was the last day to submit (or one day overdue depends on how you interpret the within 45 days from purchase requirement) and was in a hurry to submit it. I only cut out the UPC with the serial number of the notebook instead of the whole label with all the serial numbers of components. I was prepared to call them but the confirmation arrived within 3 weeks.
The lesson is to pre-submit the rebate online and get a tracking number will accelerate your rebate request. -

Great, there's been a "issue" with my refund. They said I put down the incorrect model number. What idiots, I remember writing Compaq V2000Z on the paper! They are going to send a packet back for me to put a copy of the invoice with the model number circled and send it back to them. I already sent in the invoice, along with everything else I was supposed to. This is just making me angry!

That's why one should keep a copy of their submission. I didn't though this time since I suddenly remembered the rebate on the last day (11/29, it was ordered on 10/14)at work without all the papers with me. I went on to the web to fill up the form, rush home after work to find the delivery slip and cut out the UPC (in a wrong way) and went to the Post Office at 5:45pm (15minutes before they closed) so that I can get a dated stamp on it.
