Well, basically the title said it. Right now I have one ordered with 1.8GHz 80GB HDD with no special paint job.

I will eventually, just not anytime soon. I'll wait for higher capacity SSDs, Nehalem and the better integrated graphics Rahul hinted at in a video (just the IGP, he didn't hint at Nehalem or better SSDs).

It'll probably be at least a year before that, though.

Im thinking about getting the Power User #3- some of there choices are stupid on the list- No Paint job for me, in fact the black fiber is prob the best looking one anyways. + I would never spent 600 bucks on a color lol.
Im wondering If I should get the regular model w/o SSD though- i heard the 80gb 4200 RPM drives are annoying sometimes and need alot of patience-

I am thinking about getting the 1.8 ssd option in the shadow colour. Still not sure especially with the hastle of ordering to the UK. I have to get it sent to a friend in the states who will bring it back.

Might just get the Mac Air which has had a price drop and as a UK customer its hastle free. Its a really tough decision. I dont have a problem for a price for an up market product but import tax is a bit much. The other problem is I am still not sure if I want to pay for a product that has a processor thats been on the market for 6 months. Rerardless it is still a really nice product.

    Decisions, Dicisions !!!!

Get a macbook over it, voodoo/hp support in my experience was good for a short while, and then wass completely useless. Rahul has turned back on his word before me, and that shows just how "great" he really is. I was also told that painting doesnt void my warranty by one of their lovely people when I called when ordering my laptop. I even had the paint design approved, and then after its done they say I have voided my warranty. Well my motherboard is dead, and my warranty which I paid through the nose for is gone, all because they never told me that taking apart the laptop for paint voids the warranty. You may think it is common sense, but I was told that as long as the paint does not touch the inner components than the warranty is still good. Well after I was approved on painting the entire system, I painted it. Well now comes the real question, how can you paint the system the way I wanted without taking it apart and without getting paint on anything. You cant, and I was told I was fine, but once again lied to.
They wouldnt even give me a better deal on a motherboard.
    Those guys are crooks.
I talked to Richard, the owner of RJTECH, and I am getting a new motherboard for less than half as much that Voodoo wanted, and I get a extended warranty on the board and I never placed an order with them.
If you think voodoo has good customer care, than you need your head checked, go elsewhere.
I am a very disappointed customer, and I will never buy from them. RJTECH answered the call and gave me a great deal, which the company I paid a ton more couldnt do. SO I will be ordering from R and J from now on, cause at least they are nice people and care.

Unless you can back up your claims with clear, hard evidence, you are just a troll and no one will believe what you are saying.

You are claiming Voodoo "promised" you this and that, but they are all your words, without any documentation. Verbal agreements which are not recorded are worthless.

I'm no lawyer but, as I understand Voodoo records your calls (they have a message every time you call them) thus making it fair game for you to also record the call.

i believe a statement that the conversation "may be monitored" enables them to use it in a court of law... but anything that was not notified, cannot be admissible in court... or something like that...

i wonder if having a label on your window saying "all conversation in this vehicle is remotely monitored" help on "racial profiling" of thems state troopers in New Jersey?

Looking at getting a 1.8Ghz model with the 80Gb 4200RPM drive, the SSD would be nice but just to pricey.

Not impressed with the fact that in order to get the 1.8Ghz chip I have to get a copy of Office (not thrilled that I HAVE to get a copy of Vista either) but oh well either way hoping to get a decent return on my Inspiron to get one of these :D

I would argue otherwise. He is very pissed for some reason, that enough IMHO is something to think about. I can see he is a VoodooPC customer for more then one machine and that means something.

Nevertheless If K-TRON says that its paint job is approved it is his error if he does not have any written email stating that. Apart from that it is strange that any company would approve such a thing to the extent that was required (taking the computer apart).

    Trance
PS: K-TRON I think you should open your own thread instead of hi-jacking others. If you use the forum like this then you are acting as a troll while possibly not being one.

    DFTrance, and others...

i think it's fair to say K-Tron got enough stress to deal with at the moment...
sadly, when there seems to be a misunderstanding between the 2 parties...

K-Tron still very valuable friend and offers valuable info and advice to this forum as well as the voodoo forums...

let's just hope he finds a solution to his problems...

i know that if i was in K-Tron's seat, i'll be ballistic... probably hospitalized for a brain aneurysm or a stroke...

and if we can all learn from this event... please document anything and everything that is agreed upon by manufacturer, especially if it goes beyond the confines of the warranty...

and never take anything for granted...

I doubt anyone from Voodoo would have said it was okay to completely dissassemble your notebook yourself and not void warranty.

I'm still suprised he was able to buy his laptop unpainted back in the day... somehow that one flew under the radar - bec I remember asking one of our supervisors about KTRON's u709, and the supervisor said he remembered saying No, that we wouldn't sell one unpainted... although he ended up getting it anyways SOMEHOW! haha.

DFTrance, As far as I know, KTRON has purchased his u709 from VoodooPC, but any others have been aquired elsewhere (2nd hand).

I'm looking at replacing my Inspiron with one in the next few months, I'll probably get the most basic model with the 1.6 and the 80Gb drive unless the 1.8 is worth it, I'll most likely be removing vista and putting Linux on eventually so I don't really want to pay an extra $300 for an extra 200Mhz and a copy of office I wont even use. It also depends on how easy it is to get one into Australia.

What do you guys think??? is getting the 1.8Ghz worth it? I'll only really be using this for Internet/Music/Email/Uni work but I'd like to have more crunching power if it's reasonable...

Your T7500 in your dell in sig is much more powerful, I dont quite understand your need to upgrade to something slower than what you have.

I know in the past, you had to pay international shipping fee, which was like $280 more or something like that. I am not sure if they ship to Australia, I imagine they do not at the moment, but they should soon.

To be fair, most people getting the envy 133 aren't really going for speed or power, rather the styling and portability. BTW international shipping is $100 IIRC.

i have to agree with ColdFire...

the envy133 customers, same as the mac air and the likes... are not looking for the top of the line performance builds...

i think many mac buyers do so for style and the "hype"... good machines... but i've met many who are clueless beyond the fact that they are cool...

Spot on coldfire/kinghong, while I like having the bit of grunt in my 1420 the reality is I don't need it as I only use my laptop for internet/email at Uni and taking important files around with me, plus the design is really appealing :D and much slimmer than my rather weighty (for it's size) 1420. Anyway, my T7500 is only 400mhz faster than the 1.8 in the envy so I wouldn't say it's much more powerfull at all. I also have a powerfull desktop at home anyway.

Coldfire, you say I can get the 1.8GHZ chip w/o office, how so? I can't see an option on the choose your envy page for a 1.8GHZ model w/o office for only $2199, is that something you can negotiate with Voodoo? If so, is it possible to get one without a copy of Vista as well?

I'll find out about the shipping, hopefully it's only $100 ;)

Thanks for the link, I'm thinking I'd be mad to get the 1.6GHZ when the 1.8 is only an extra $100, but would it make a significant difference to battery life? I'm assuming it wouldn't as it would only really make a difference under heavy load correct?

Looks like a 1.8 with an 80GB HDD for me :D

My Inspiron looks and feels more and more like a brick everytime I use it with this thing on my mind lol

Yes. I had to send it back twice for repairs. When I found out I had to send it back a third time for repairs, I asked for a refund. I owned it for a little over a month, but only had it in my possesion for a few days.

Thank you! I hear you guys have been pretty busy. Hopefully, that means you have gotten a lot of orders paid for already.

I joined the party a little late, so it will be a while before I get it. I'll make sure to post all about it when it gets here though.

First thing I want to play with is the instant-on OS. I read that you can save to a USB drive while in the IOS. Will I be able to save to a storage device in the ExpressCard slot as well?

I order a basic model of the 133 at the beginning of June but I was just told I won't be getting it until the first week of Sept. Does anyone know if I can get it shipped overnight to me through Voodoo? The woman I talked to on the phone didn't have any idea. The problem is I need it for school and I go back to residence on the 30th of august.

Also if I want it to be upgraded from a 1.6ghz processor to a 1.8 will I be sent back to the end of the line and have to wait even longer to get it?

iMaxx might be the only one here that can help you with those questions Andrew.

Also, reading the Voodoo forum ( www.thenextbench.com) is making me a little nervous. For a while now, the estimated starting ship date has been the week of 8/18. But it's my understanding that nothing has shipped yet.

That's a good question, unfortunatly, I cannot answer it either.
We can do ON shipping, but there us are additional shipping charges involved.
As for the CPU change, I would say, "Probably not."

Call in and ask to talk to Thomas or Chris. (Chris is the head dude there and would know better than anyone.)

The delay now is infuriating because it isn't...well...our fault.

I best not go into details until someone above me says so, but all I can say right now is that I am shaking my fist at Microsoft.

My laptop is nearly 3.75" thick ;)

I love all 26 lbs of it.

are you going to review your machine, or did you just open it?

I've had it for about a week. When I first got it, the screen had a defect, so I sent it back for repair. Since I've gotten it back, it's been freezing and tonight I got a blue screen. So until I figure out what is going on, I'm going to hold off on the review. But I will say that it looks even better in person and I'm not sure how I lived without a SSD.
