well, thats voodoo for you, telling you they tested it and everything and sent out something which didnt work. This has happened before in the past to a few members. Sorry its happening to you.

Have you tried reimaging the system or reinstalling the operating system?
I know that certain SSD's have a lag problem, when they will run fine and just ping and stall for a while before doing anything.
I dont think the problem has a solution, but you can try asking our SSD expert LES, he is usually in the SSD thread.

good luck, hopefully you can figure out the problem.

Congrats man, enjoy the quality of a well made and revolutionary, hiper sensitive blablabla, that comes with a defect on the LCD and even does blue screens. Maybe it was built to be food tray in carbon fiber rather then a laptop that is supposed to compete with Mac Book Air (That I can buy in the shopping center with loads of them fully functioning)

How much did you pay for it?

    Trance
PS: Sarcam apart (not intended to you) I'm sure that your problem can be easily fixed. Anyway if some company preaches perfection (MAXIMUM USABILITY MINIMUM HASSLE) and revolution then it must deliver nothing else, especially at launch. One can argue that for instance iPhone wasn't perfect whe it came out, but apple has not preached perfection.

dude, thats pretty harsh. The guy just got the thing and doesnt want to hear that

Other things which should be checked for, are the memory. You can burn a cd of memtest, which you can run through Basic DOS, if you know how. I recommend running it for at least 8 hours or so to see that the memory is performing properly. Than you can either reinstall the operating system, or take the SSD out and try running diagnostics on it from a working computer. You want to check the S.M.A.R.T. readings of the drive to see if their are any errors. (Wait do SSD's have S.M.A.R.T?, I hope they do) You can run software like hdtune, to check these readings, and run error scans on the drive.
I believe that with SSD's if you get a single error from either MLC or SLC chips, the whole drive will start acting funny.

Its better to run diagnostics yourself, cause it will save time on Voodoo/Hp's end, and will give Ryan a bit less of a headache.

    Good luck

The problem with his system, it seems, is the RAM. Unfortunately, the 133 is built in such a way that getting to the RAM requires a disassembly. Not a fun task.

You make is sound like things never get tested and that we are all just sitting back here laughing at customers. Jebus man...

I hate the fact that this can happen as much as everyone else. All I can do is everything in my power to remedy it and as quickly as possible.

You can always send your "709" in for full testing and warranty repair. Get that WO number yet?

The situation is just as unfortunate for Voodoo because of my history of with laptops. 6 years ago I was excited to get my first laptop only to find out the University of Dayton required me to buy a Tangent (pos). Now that it has finally died, I wanted to get a premium laptop. AW's m15x was my first try. After three unsuccessful repairs, I got a refund and took a few months to pick a new laptop, which brings me to the Envy 133.

It's nerve-racking shipping a $3-$5K laptop back and forth. I get worried about it. The first time I shipped the Envy back, I dropped it off at UPS and then a wind storm hit Cincinnati and took out everyone's power. So, when my power came back on 4 days later, they had no record of the laptop. I thought it was stolen. Plus, the gloss on these laptops scratch so easily. I just never anticipated having these issues.

I will say, though, that Voodoo's customer care is light years ahead of Alienware. And I know it's not right to compare the two, but I've taken both the m15x and Envy 133 in to work to show my friends and they all agreed that they Envy would be their choice between the two.

well I am glad it is only a memory issue, that is a cheap fix. Well most memory manufacturers have a lifetime warranty, so its just a matter of voodoo sending the memory in for RMA, and than installing new memory.
Sorry Ryan about that statement, I should have been more clear. I know on the site it used to say that every system was checked and benched before leaving. I dont know if that is still done, but it gave the customer a feeling like, wow the system is guaranteed to work when it arrives. There have been a few people on the boards over the last year or two complaing that it was a DOA. Sometimes its something serious, like a failed graphics card, and sometimes it is a very minor issue.
I am not blaming you that his m133 is broken, but if it was shipped not working, that would be wrong. If its just a memory card being defective as you say, that may very well be from the postal people's tracking equipment and such. It is a known problem, which unfortunately is unavoidable.
Well it is avoidable, they would just have to use lead lined boxes to prevent the scanning equipment from frying certain electronics. very cost ineffective solution ;)

I know it was harsh, but it is not my fault that it is.

By now it is evident that you guys have found that I'm not very fond of AW, VOODOO, FalconNW etc etc.

Every system can fail, but IMHO no system at that price should be dead at arrival (for whatever reason). These companies keep doing it inspite of consumers paying premium prices for these systems. It all became far too normal IMHO when computers are bought online. For this and other reasons I'll keep pushing the envelope.

Unfortunately, these companies deliver everything they preach in terms of aesthetics but in substance their are not different to others. Unless customers start complaining and not be so dazzled by spieal and looks, things will not change. Attention to detail!

I've read a certain blog were high end cars such as Ferrari and Porshes are mentioned within this context. Give me a break.

    Trance
PS: Take my remark as a harsh call for attention rather then a destructive criticism. Otherwise you are missing the point.

It'll be a straight exchange. (With a full test\diagnostic of the new unit before it goes of course.)

I have been swamped as of late and I have been falling behind on my emails, so a_cricketer called and tracked me down. (Caught me when everyone was on lunch.)

Not yet. Originally, I was told it should be a one day turn around. So, I will have to get on the phone tomorrow to find out what happened to it. This is too much of a hassel.

I am not buying a Voodoo Envy 133, but I just would like to point out that K-Tron is no troll. Because i remember when I use to come on this website a while back, K-Tron was one of the most proud Voodoo owners, everyone use to say why would you buy something that expensive, and K-Tron would argue with them with the reasons forever (post HP buy BTW). To see him mad at Voodoo has really shocked me, and for them to not look into his problem is very shocking as well. Hope Voodoo and K-Tron work things out. I would still love to have a voodoo 17".

I would Strongly Recommend to those who are considering the purchase of HP's Voodoo series laptops to not. I had the Envy133 ,had it for 2 weeks and returned it,i had it color customized in red and when I received it, the performance was a mess! I have nothing against HP, i think they are great as far as there consumer line of machines. but this right here was horrible. I thought maybe i could live with this performance , but once I started up the computer i was blue screens and this constant lag with getting on games, my D630 from dell was faster than this 3,000 dollar machine.

And if you try to send it back they will make your life a bloody mess.

took me 3 weeks to get my money back, they kept wanting to just switch me out for a new model of discount me on the same model and replace the one i had. I just wanted my money back.
