I just got my HDX16 replacement. When I started it up for the 1st time, I noticed the DVD drive was running. I opened it and there was a burned dvd in there. It was marked 4-12 to 4-15. I played it and it was in Chinese. It was about a cultural celebration thing. I was loling. I mean what the hell? I think it was a test dvd to see if the dvd driver worked properly.

Has anyone else had something like this with your laptop order?

Maybe someone at the Chinese plant was taking a break and decided to pull a random laptop off of the assembly line for their leisure? lol

He put in a movie or show of recent events in China (April 12-15), fell asleep and his co-worker packed it up.

Does it smell like Moo-Shu Pork?

Man! As I was reading I was sure it was gonna be some 2llamas1umbrella video.
Glad to see it was just cultural stuff.

Wasn't there a case recently in the news where a couple bought an allegedly sealed DVD player from somewhere like Walmart and found a DVD in it when they got it home?

It reminds me of the Crank Yankers episode where Wanda Sykes calls a video store and says that she got a DVD in the video box she rented to play at a children's party. :p

So much for "HP-recertified." No wonder both my recertified HP Minis bought through buy.com had major problems. :D

Oh, well, would you look at that? Something in the DVD drive on the 3rd day of inspection?
Oh wait, it's just another thing to complain about. Guess what? It's probably refurbished.
Another thing to complain about-> not that it is damaged though. But i guess because of that, you can send it back to Hp and they'll send you another hdx16. just hope that the one you'll be getting is not a flawed one.

I found out on the 1st day. I just didn't mention it before. I highly doubt its refurbished, I mean I custom ordered it and if it was, then they did a great job.

By law, if it is a refurb, it must say so on the box.

HP Mini refurbs, for example, come in boxes distinctly different from the standard retail box, with big letters that say RECONDITIONED.
