I've had the dv1000T for a couple of weeks now and I'm pretty pleased.
HP Pavilion dv1000t CTO Notebook
- Microsoft(R) Windows(R) XP Professional with SP2
- Intel(R) Core(TM) Duo processor T2500 (2.0 GHz)
- 14.0" WXGA BrightView Widescreen (1280x768)
- Intel(R) Graphics Media Accelerator 950 w/WebCam
- 1.0GB DDR2 SDRAM (2x512MB)
- 60 GB 5400 RPM Serial ATA Hard Drive
- LightScribe 8x DVD+/-RW&CD-RW Combo w/Double Layer
- Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 3945ABG Network w/Bluetooth
- 6 Cell Lithium Ion Battery
Pros:
-Speedy Processor
-Range of WLAN card
-DVD read and write speed
-Quiet (Especially compared to my last Dell)
-Runs much cooler than my Dell notebooks
Cons:
-Keyboard is not as responsive as my previous Dells
-Touchpad is centered on the laptop vs being offset to the left
-Somewhat pricey, but work paid for it
-Lots of junk software pre-loaded
-Battery life could be better (Avg around 2 hrs)
Overall a very nice laptop. I've owned many Dell notebooks and previously the only HP notebook I've owned was their first Tablet notebook (hated it).
I seriously thought about purchasing the new Apple notebooks, but no one has been able to make windows run on it yet. -
ubrgeek is it reasonalbe to assume that the 12cell battery will give you 4 hours?
-
I've read that you would get at least that much time with the 12 cell. Obviously your mileage will vary depending on what you are doing.
One other plus - The power brick is very very small. About 1/3 the size of a normal Dell power brick. Something that most don't even think about. -
Yo
glad i found this post. still torn between asus w3v or dv1604TN (dual 1.83ghz). One of the other points for me for the choice of a duo over a single is the battery and heat dissipation, however i have had conflicting reports between people.
also just for ppl's info a 6 cell weighs 310g and a 12 cell 605g. -
by the way the review at http://laptopmag.com/Review/HP-Pavilion-dv1000t.htm , they say it doesn't include a pc card slot? what the heck is the thing shown on the side shot http://i.i.com.com/cnwk.1d/sc/31692317-2-300-sides-3.gif ?
-
It does have a PCMCIA slot. They may have been confused by the fact that you can order a remote that is stored in that slot.
-
does it come with the remote as standard or order seperately?
-
I know that all DV1000s sold in stores at least come with remotes, not sure if any DV1000Ts are in stores yet but they should come with remotes. If you custom order one from the internet, you have to buy it separtely.
-
ubrgeek - what apps are you running that you only get 2 hours of battery life? PC Mag claims almost 4 hours on the 6 cell. Also, is that a PCIMA slot or the new PCI express slot in the 1000t?
-
Thanks ubrgeek!!! Could you make a review of the notebook, or could you take any pcitures??
Thanks again!! -
rockym - I'm using normal 'business' type apps: Word, excel, VPN access, Outlook. I usually have multiple windows open.

ubrgeek, thank you very much for the pictures!!!
One more question, you buy the memory with the notebook, or you buy it aftermarket?
Anyone has the DV1000T yet?
