Well, Dell is about to loose another loyal customer, and I am considering the HP Dv7. I purchased a HP 6 years ago and had issues with it overheating and the optical drive went out pretty fast. What I am considering is the HP Dv7 with the i7 820-QM processor, 4 GB ram, 500 GB Hard Drive, 1 GB GeForce GT 230M video card, Infinity HD+ 17" display, bluetooth, tv tuner, DVDR/CDR.

I was just wondering what the overall feeling is from owners of a computer similar to this?

I have a Dell Studio 17, Intel Duo P9600, 500 GB HD, 1 GB Raedon vid card, customized ordered with Dell, but they keep delaying the shipment. The HP is obviously a better configuration than my Dell, but I want to make sure it's a well built computer.

I have a Quad edition. The screen is pretty crappy, and it makes a popping sound when booting and shutting down. I guess the worst part is the poor viewing angles of the screen. Blacks look faded gray on the lower part of the screen and you can't really get your angle just right to see everything right.
