I was looking at both of these at Best Buy since my girlfriend wants to buy a new laptop. Anyone have any experience with either one? Let me know. Thanks.

There are plenty of reviews of the dv6000 which should be fairly similar to the models you are looking at.

I just purchased the dv6258se. I love it. I got it for 1049 in store. Vista runs well on it, the white special edition imprint finish is OUTSTANDING and overall the performance is great. Also, the 12 cell battery is a godsend.

Got one while it was on sale for 1049 a week or 2 after Vista came out. Couldn't build one with similar features at anywhere near close to the price I paid. Great notebook.

I got a dv6258se a couple of weeks ago and overall it's fantastic. just to note: i'm having an issue with the wireless driver. when it comes out of sleep, hibernation, or from off, the wireless will not work. i have to restart the computer again to make it work. i have uninstalled and reinstalled the wireless driver, but the issue still remains. it's just an inconvenience.

I have a similar, though much more serious, problem on my dv6000 laptop. My wireless stop working altogether. The wireless light won't turn blue and the wireless adapter is gone from the device manager, and a reboot does not solve the problem. About once every 10 days it will come back to life, but usually only until the next hibernation or turn-off. I've tried reinstalling and updating both the broadcomm drivers and hp wireless assistant. I think it is a hardware problem, though I cannot rule out a bad driver since the problem is sometimes related to hibernation/stand by, and some other people are facing similar problems with their wireless and hibernation. HP wants me to send in my laptop, but I cannot afford to be w/out my laptop for the moment.

Sorry, I have triple-posted my issue, but that are parallel threads on this hibernation/wireless problem.

Btw, these are the related threads:

That's a great laptop. I've upgraded from a ZV5340. It seems that I will be using HP Laptops for the rest of my life.

I got the white one, great looking, its amazing! I got tired of black and silver laptops, and this comes at hand...

Also performance is oustanding, AMD X2 Dual really kicks ass off, and I was even able to run latest games at normal settings.
