Bought dv2500t and now it's in production. Everything's great except instead of getting the 250GB option I got the 160GB. After I realized the price wasn't very different I wanted to get the 250GB version but my order was alwready "dropped to the factory".

Does anybody have any thoughts on how to get the 250GB HD? I got lucky and used the 30%off coupon and now it's over. They say they can't change my order cuz they'd have to cancel and refund the whole thing, that's really crazy.

Anybody have any thoughts on a way to get it? (it's only 110 more)

With a less global company, you could probably simply call up the reseller and request the change. With HP, you may simply be stuck having to get a second hard drive at a later date, which, if I recall HP's policies correctly, will void the notebook's warranty as soon as you install it (unless, of course, you can manage to remove that warranty sticker without breaking it, then just remember to put the 160 GB drive back in if the notebook ever needs service) :(.

Well just so you know you have 21 days after you receive the laptop to return it and get your money back no questions asked. The problem is, the 20% coupon is no longer available. Now, if you wanted you can wait and upgrade the HDD anytime you want. It is a very simple procedure, one I can walk you through easily. Heres the thing, the HDD you probably got is a 5400RPM, so if you do decide to upgrade make sure you go with a 7200RPM. The RPM is the revolutions per minute, which means that its the rate at which the HDD spins. The faster your HDD can spin, the faster it will find your data when you need it.

If the 30% coupon was still available I'd say go for it, but since it isn't, just wait and look around on Newegg, Tigerdirect, outpost, or other pc websites for sales on Laptop SATA 150, 2.5", 7200RPM HDD's.

If you don't mind ordering it again, then I'd ship it back as soon as it arrives. Apply the 20% coupon as you're ordering - the date's been extended to 9/22. Code NB2770. I recently returned my dv6500t notebooks and ordered new ones, and the process didn't take that long; actually, it only took a day for HP credit the money back.

Will you really make use of the extra space? For $110, you could purchase outright a 3rd party 2.5" external drive with greater capacity than the 90Gb difference (between the 160 and 250GB drives).
