I was wondering if anyone else has burning issues with their dv8000... I am very very angry at this piece of crap machine right now. I've wasted so many CDs and DVDs because the CD/DVD drive isn't working correctly. It keeps stopping randomly while burning stuff and the drive doesn't recognize some of the CDs I put in it. I also have problems opening it and it's driving me crazy! If anyone knows how I can fix this, please don't hesitate to reply. Thanks.

I've had my dv8000t since May, I've burnt at least 80 DVDs. I know this because I'm just about thru my second 50-pack. Not a single dud in the bunch. Every disc has been perfect. You may have just gotten a bum drive.

Any error messages while burning? Are you running other programs while burning?

What brand(s) of blanks are you using?

Other than that, you may have to reinstall the software. Or, you might have a bad drive.

Have you installed any burning sw in the last week or about when the problem started? If not, and there haven't been any other unusual issues with the nb, then it may very well be a mechanical problem.

Only pc-cillon added. I did notice that my nero and sonic the cd info does register and sees disc space available and used. When I use My computer the F:drive reads 0bytes. For some reason my computer wont read dvd disc but it will read it in sonic and nero. Was able to burn with sonic but not nero, I can only watch what I burn on nero movie. Hp tech unable to answer other then use hp disc. I have bundleof 50 fujifil. 15 good,,are the rest of 53 bad.
Am going to try sony dissc tomorow. Any reason why MyComputer f: reads 0bytes but file is readable in Nero and Sonic?

0 bytes of data or 0 bytes total size? Are you talking about a new blank CD/DVD or one with data already burned to it?

I'm curious to know why you have both Nero and Sonic on the same computer? Have you tried to uninstall one of them to see if burning works?
