Sorry for the long thread title, I just wanted to see if anyone has had their HP laptop shipped if they ordered during that recent 500 dollar off coupon deal. I ordered on the 4th and still have expected build date of 15th and current status says Order in Production. Anyone else have a different status? I think I read someone once said to expect the computer to arrive around the expected build date and one time I spoke with a HP rep who said the build date is usually the worst case - so they like to put it and usually you will receive it earlier.
-
i got one befor the coupon came out and i recieved it 12 days after i orderd it
-
Same issue here brother. I also ordered on 4th and I check the order status twice daily to see if they shipped it yet (cant wait anymore now
),,, They told me same thing that 15th is the worst case scenario, and looks like it is worst case scenario we are in.. They also told me couple of examples where notebook actually got shipped out to customers in 3 days after ordering.. I guess either there is a component they are running short of, OR its just that lot of orders are in processing queue due to the coupon special.... Since I chose free shipping, so that would be another 5-7 days after shipping,, so I am looking at 22nd of this month to receive...I just want to lay my hands on the machine now, cant wait no more....
-
I ordered mine on the 28th of Jan with an expected build date of 11 Feb...
Received on 9 Feb, I had my Tracking number a week prior but it just said there was no information available for that tracking number. Hope ya'll get as lucky as me! I also got to have the 500 dollar coupon added to my order! Yeah -
Ordered on Feb 3 and have the same Feb 15 ship date as you do. I've been checking everyday too since I got my free printer on 2/6. Mine has been stuck on "Order in production" for the past week too.
I'm guessing it might have something to do with Chinese New Year. If I'm not wrong HK workers get around one week off, but I'm not sure if it applies to China workers/ HP manufacturing plant.
If you don't mind me asking what model did you order and how much did it cost you after the $500 off? -
i ordered a custom dv9700t on feb 2nd. says it will be built by feb 18th. i really want the laptop badddd but i would rather a line of happy chinese workers taking their sweet as time to build my laptop nice and fine then abused chinese laborers rushing my order and making it crappy.
-
Hey guys - yea I agree with everyone - I really cant wait to get this thing in! And i heard so many people reporting that they got it early so I hoped I would too - o well. Here are the specs I got:
HP Pavilion dv9700t customizable Notebook PC
Genuine Windows Vista Home Premium (32-bit)
Intel(R) Core(TM) 2 Duo Processor T9300 (2.50 GHz, 6 MB L2 Cache, 800MHz FSB)
17.0" WXGA+ High-Definition HP BrightView Widescreen Display (1440 x 900)
2GB DDR2 System Memory (2 Dimm)
256MB NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GS
FREE Upgrade to HP Imprint Finish (Radiance) + Fingerprint Reader + Webcam + Microphone!!
FREE Upgrade to Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 4965AGN Network Connection and BluetoothTM!!
250GB 5400RPM SATA Hard Drive
LightScribe SuperMulti 8X DVD+/-RW with Double Layer Support
No TV Tuner w/remote control
High Capacity 8 Cell Lithium Ion Battery
Microsoft(R) Works 9.0
HP Home & Home Office Store in-box envelope
Cost 968.00 after 50+ in taxes. -
Ordered mine on the 4th, expected ship date is the 15th. Order is still in production.
my uneducated guess is that since they pulled the coupon so early, they must have received a ton of orders. So worst case scenario is likely to happen. -
-
I decided for less ram bc i will buy it cheaper myself later and then i really wanted the 8600 but it was too much already for me. I was debating between 8600 and t7500 or 8400 and t9300. Some people say the former is better but overall I dont think ill be disappointed. Its for a friend who, as far as gaming goes, only plays Sims 2 and Sims 3 whenever it comes out.
-
I ordered mine on the 2nd and it says to be built on the 14th. I check mine twice a day as well. It still says in production. Keep in mind that Chinese New Year was from the 4th till the 8th. Mostly likely either shut down the factory or slow the productions. I would assume most people would stay home. It is like Xmas in China. Depends on where is the factory, they also had that huge snow storm that stopped transportations, powers and all that for a little while.
Hopefully they are back to work and cranking out our laptops soon. -
I ordered on December 25th with the $500 off, and it was delivered around January 7th I believe.
-
Still no change. This is taking a little too long for my liking. No chance of playing around with laptop this weekend

mine is dv6700t customizable PC( SPECS ABOVE_.is this model eligible for discount ? if so how can i claim now..? if so what coupon code i ihave to use and how.?
Thanks a lot for your advise.Last edited by a moderator: Jan 29, 2015 -
Specs in my sig (except I'm upgrading the ram from the 2 gigs it came with to 3 the minute it arrives).
I also ordered Feb. 3 with the discount and a Feb. 15 build by date. Order still says it's in production. I ended up ordering 2 notebooks in Dec. (both had problems). They both had a 30% off coupon attached. One shipped on a Monday and arrived Thursday. One shipped on a Tuesday and arrived Friday. So definitely looking like next week over here.
Here's my shipping info from the 2 previous notebooks I had to send back as a reference on build by and receive dates:
First:
Ordered Dec. 10
Shipped Dec. 18 from China
Delivered Dec. 21
Second:
Ordered Dec. 28
Shipped January 7 from China
Delivered January 10 -
, anyway since your upgrading your ram to 3 can you please
make a step by step instruction and whats needed? -
Vince, I'd be happy to do it but I think there are so many threads here that cover it so I don't want to step on any toes. The one I'm getting comes with 2 1GB sticks and all you have to do is unscrew the plate on the bottom of the laptop, remove one of the 1GB sticks and stick in a 2GB stick. My RAM is from NewEgg.
My current laptop has a memory module underneath the keyboard and I was waaay too chicken to do that much disassembling. That's one of the reasons I didn't get the Inspiron 1720.
Anyway, the 2 memory modules being on the bottom side of the DV9700T was a huge plus for me and RAM is so much cheaper when you don't buy it through HP. It's one of the easiest, if not the easiest upgrades to do yourself and I'm definitely, definitely not a highly skilled computer person! -
1) $500 off coupon was used up on 02/04. There's no way you could have ordered it on feb 6 and still use the coupon.
2) Coupon can only be used for notebooks priced $1399 and above.
3) You enter the coupon when you pay with your credit card. Here's the page: http://www.notebookreview.com/hp_Coupon.asp
Unless you are going to need the notebook urgently, I would suggest canceling/returning it and wait a few more weeks for a new coupon to come out.Last edited by a moderator: Jan 29, 2015 -
Not sure if that's a typo BrightRed but the $500 off coupon I used was for notebooks $1399 and up, not $3999.
My total came to $1165 and that included 10% tax for where I live. -
Atleast is it a good deal for the Price $1,142.99 + tax for the above spec of DV6700T? .
do i get it still cheaper with a coupon..?(already i got 100$ off with instanat discount online)
Thanks

Deadlock,
I have been searching for a laptop and a deal for a month before I ordered my 6700t. The specs you posted with the price is fair. I was going to order something along the same line of yours except I like the dedicated graphics card. below is my spec with 500 discount. You be the judge what you want to do whether to keep or cancel and wait for another coupon available:
HP Pavilion dv6700t customizable Notebook PC

* Intel(R) Core(TM) 2 Duo Processor T9300 (2.50 GHz, 6 MB L2 Cache, 800MHz FSB)
* 15.4" WXGA High-Definition HP BrightView Widescreen Display (1280 x 800)
* 50% OFF Upgrade to 3GB DDR2 System Memory (2 Dimm)!!
* 256MB NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GS - For Core 2 Duo Processors
* HP Imprint Finish (Radiance) + Fingerprint Reader + Webcam + Microphone
* Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 4965AGN Network Connection and Bluetooth(TM)
* FREE Upgrade to 250GB 5400RPM SATA Hard Drive from 160GB 5400RPM SATA Hard Drive!!
* FREE Upgrade to LightScribe SuperMulti 8X DVD+/-RW with Double Layer Support!!
* No TV Tuner w/remote control
* High Capacity 6 Cell Lithium Ion Battery

Unit Price 1452.99
Instant discounts you received:
$500.00 Coupon NB1391
Order subtotal $952.99
Tax 64.33
grand total 1017.32 -
but if i return the notebook can i get the shipping charges+ tax also. ( becaz i paid for 2 days shipping).
or they return only the notebook price only?
btw the price 1250 is worth of it>
-
I have no idea how they will refund you. I assume if you cancel before it is shipped out, there should be no shipping charge occurred. I would call HP before I cancel online. I wish I have done the 2 days shipping now too. I was hoping to get mine before or on this weekend. Looks like next Monday is more realistic now. Still says order in production
-
rogazilla,
Thanks a lot for ur info.so may be another 300+$ diff with coupon.
waiting for my notebook since 1 week.))
-
-
Actually im not aware of any coupons etc while ordering...today only came to know....last 1 week i was happy that i got a good deal..etc..etc...but today...iwas ......so i want to convince myself that i get more or less not a bad deal..(atleast)...otherwise...i wont sleep with peace...

Here's a short thread that lists some of the past coupon codes so you can get an idea of how often they list new ones.
http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=216249&highlight=coupon
I found the $500 off coupon code here in the Notebook and Tech Bargains section:
http://forum.notebookreview.com/forumdisplay.php?f=12
They had the $500 off code a full day before FatWallet.com did. FW is where I found a 30% off coupon back in December.
I don't know if HP will do it but there was a fella here that ordered his laptop right before the $500 off coupon came out in December. He called them up and said he was going to cancel his order if they didn't apply the discount even though the coupon had expired and his order was in production. He had 3 HP employees tell him that wasn't possible before someone there finally did apply the difference so he could receive the same discount.
I've heard people here say they've tried to cancel their order and HP said it wasn't possible. Some have even gotten their order canceled and then the laptop shows up on their doorstep.
HPShopping's Web site says, "The HP Home & Home Office Store begins processing accepted orders immediately and is therefore unable to accept order cancellation requests once you have received an order confirmation."
It's worth a shot to say you're just going to send it back to them if they don't give you the discount but since it's been a while since the coupon came out, you would have to get the right person. Seems like the people on the other end of the line really don't care if you send it back most of the time! -
So any updates on any ones status, I ordered mine on the 4th with a 18th build date and also waiting for an update.
-
Mine still hasn't shipped (build by date of Feb. 15). The last 2 I ordered, the tracking # was waiting on me when I got up the next morning, never any changes during the day. The FedEx page starts tracking around 11 p.m. in China and states "package received after FedEx cutoff."
One thing I've learned from this:
I always know what time it is in Shanghai. -
-
drats my 8 year old desktop just failed me. So now I have a computer with a black screen that flickers. This is turning out to be some long wait.
On an unrelated note, I shouldn't have read all those horror stories about HP laptops. Made me very paranoid :/ -
it says to be shipped on 14th... I was hoping waking up to a tracking number but still order in production. I am worried that it will get delay!!! I was hoping to get it this weekend on my birthday
-
I got my tracking number 4 days before it shipped!
-
i have my tracking # and it left china today
-
Congrats Vince. What was your build by date?
-
-
ah... I ordered 2/02 though... so I may be next!!!
-
Great. Right on schedule, I guess! Guess I'll be next too. (Fingers crossed!)
-
Will HP have another sale?
-
Of course, just be patient and you will be rewarded
-
Woot guys! I got my tracking number for FedEx for the laptop. I'm shocked because it said originally the 18th would be the ship date. So it's been picked up in Shanghai. I hope you all got yours shipped too!
-
Is it the dv9700t? I read in another forum that someone who had ordered that has his shipped today too and his ship date was the 18th.
Does anyone have a dv2700t SE that has already shipped? -
YEE YEE!! mines shipping right now. and like jonathan360, its been picked up in shanghai.
dv9700t with a build date of the 15th -
Man it seems random - some people with 14th, some 15th and even some 18th are shipping today!? I ordered on 4th with 15th ship date and still have order in production. Really weird. Mine better be shipping tomorrow! I wonder how long it will take to actually be delivered - I heard previous people say it only takes a few days of actual shipment even though its from China. I hope thats the case. Im disappointed just bc I really expected to HAVE it in hand by tom or the weekend from previous reports.
O and a quick question to those who have it shipped today:
Did the status change midday? Or did you only check it once today and it was different? -
I think it has to do with the model you ordered. It looks like HP's spewing out the dv9700s first.
No one else on here ordered the dv2700t SE? -
I ordered the 9700t tho
-
Now about when it shipped, I just came on here noticed some saying it shipped and I checked, and it shipped. -
Maybe they'll take extra care building our notebooks because they just had a good long 2 weeks off
Anyone received shipping for new HP laptop from recent 500 dollar coupon deal?
