So, uhhh anyone get their lappy yet?
-
Nope [
!]
-
NOPE[
!] Ordered mine on Apr. 17
Read the thread ZV6000 on page 29...they're only talking about the Athlon 3500+, but this could also apply to our Costco orders (3200+). If what they're saying is true, then this supposedly much better equipped ZV6000 is actually inferior to my ZV5220US (which has a true Athlon XP-M 3000+ processor). At least the lappy I have now is totally quiet during web surfing and only needs to turn on the fan during heavy processor use. I hear the ZV6000's fans are always on. Damn... the more I read these forums, the more I don't think the ZV6000 is a keeper...[]
-
I don't think I have ever waited for anything for so long. I ordered mine on 4/18 - the end of my 6 weeks it 5/30. This forum has kept me sane. I just hope I get it before I start taking classes!!!
-
Man, I'd kill to have a mobile zv!!

I'm also looking forward to going from about 8,000 soldiers maximum in Rome: Total War to at least 20,000 on the battlefield with the other settings turned up as well...Russ, I hope you're right about the significant improvement over my 32mb Nvidia card to the 128gb ATI my new ZV6000 will have. I have no intention on playing games like Doom 3 which I hear don't play well in the ZV6000, but games like RTW is my thing.
-
Russ, I sure hope so...
Does the extra 256mb of memory on your ZV5000 series lappy help a lot? I'm curious as to how much improvement I can get if I decide to upgrade to at least 1gb memory for either of my machines (ZV5220US and ZV6000 both have 512mb). I do a lot of video encoding and back-ups of my DVDs. -

everytime Fedex drives by my house i become enraged. i got really excited when they rang my doorbell but it was a different package. i guess what im trying to say is that im pissed and excited at the same time [xx(]
hope you guys get yours soon! -
I called Costco today and apparently HP is shipping our laptops to us and mine should be delivered by the end of next week. This is BS, we waited over a month while HP was shipping laptops to every other resellers customers. This makes me mad [
!]
-
Seems that way. If I was in charge of Costco I would drop the HP line after this treatment. HP and Office Depot orders sure seem to have priorty.
-
END of NEXT week? What the heck. That's all i have to say. i was expecting it within a couple of days.
-
So do we get any kind of compensation for our wait? I'd sure like a $50 credit on HP.com. I'm now at 5 weeks.

I emailed Costco yesterday and this was their reply:
Thank you for contacting Costco.com
Hewlett Packard is having a shortage of processors to fulfill their
orders. They are currently planning to ship their orders by May 27th.
As soon as your order ships, you will be notified by e-mail with
tracking information. HP is aware of the delay and should still honor
the rebate.
Thank you,
Souphot H.
-
that doesn't make sense. they dont ship bulk.
Quote from HP email:
do apologize for any confusion, but notebooks are actually shipped out when they are completed and not in rounds. -
BS...Toooo MANY of us posters (on these forums) all received notice of our orders shipping in the last 2days!!!

I feel sorry for AKMU - so close, yet so far. I was in best buy this past weekend and I saw the new sony FS series. It is one of the prettiest machies I have ever seen, rather unfortunately it packs no juice under the hood. I almost went for looks instead of raw torque. I placed my costco order on 4/18 and I am still waiting. This waiting has wore off my excitement of buying a new laptop. I just hope it gets here before I start my classes on 6/4. HP should never have accepted all those orders knowing very well they didn't have the parts. But hey Costco said 4-6 weeks. This is week 6 for me - if it takes longer, I might fall for sonys beauty!!!
-
Don't feel sorry yet...I just recieved email from Costco that they shipped the laptop!!!! I am going to have two of these babies.
Anyone interested in buying one from me?
-a -
i got the same email. looks like they're sending out in bulk.
great, 7-10 days for shipping....... -
I got one too! Couple things to note:
<blockquote id='quote'> quote:<hr height='1' noshade id='quote'>
Costco Wholesale's return policy for all desktop and notebook computers is six months from date of purchase.
<hr height='1' noshade id='quote'></font id='quote'></blockquote id='quote'>I ordered this thing on 4/14/05, but I didn't purchase it (card wasn't charged) until today. I'm gonna make sure I get my full 6 months.
<blockquote id='quote'>quote:<hr height='1' noshade id='quote'>
The estimated delivery time will be approximately 4 to 6 weeks from the time of order.
<hr height='1' noshade id='quote'></font id='quote'></blockquote id='quote'>Thursday (3 days from now) is officially 6 weeks for me. If it doesn't arrive on Thursday, which is not likely, I'll be looking for my 50 bucks! I was thinking about getting the remote. What do you think?

Ordered mine on 4/8, UPS tracking # recieved today. When I check the tracking info it just says billing information received. Does anyone know where these are shipping from? It also lists the weight at 3.2 pounds. Seems a little light.
-
i got one too , finally
i ordered on 4/8 [^] -
Now it shows from where it shipped...did someone say Ontario is
a "return" facility?
Another weired thing is that total package weight is just 3.2 lb.?
For me scheduled arrival is wednesday
May 23, 2005 6:40 P.M. ONTARIO, CA, US
-
It seems all our tracking info is the same... 3.2 lbs, Ontario.
My current status is "Exception - On Time." Does anyone know what that means? And what does this mean: "FORWARDED TO THE FACILITY IN THE DESTINATION CITY?"
Other people had two tracking numbers. Maybe this 3 pounder is the OTHER number.
My delivery date is the 26th (thursday).
Getting excited again.

I'm finally able to get excited again... I have to wait till Friday though for delivery. I *think* part of the reason for the weird UPS messages is cheaper bulk sending on the part of Costco. I've seen similar messages from items ordered from Overstock.com. It's about time.

I have just check my order and it has not been shipped. My card has not been charged either. I guess they are going in order from the oldest orders - will just have to wait till they get to the 4/18 orders. I thought these machines were coming from China? Why does the tracking info say Ontario? Quite a number of people had dead pixels on their new machines - lets hope our batch does not have any!!!!

It seems HP is shipping them to Costco (does Costco have any offices in Ontario, CA?) and then Costco is sending them out to us. I think HP uses FedEx, but these things are coming via UPS.

Sorry guys..Im a bad member..
I'm too lazy to run benchmarks...all I can say is..it's fast...not blazingly fast as an actual P4 3.2 ghz...but it's faster than a 2.5 ghz..so it's not too bad...
the laptop charged quickly..speakers aren't H/K quality...but it'll due..for under $1K...I'm happy.
I previously owned a ZV5000Z...w/ the exact specs w/o a 5400 rpm drive...very very slow...
now this is fast..so I guess I'm biased a bit.
toodles.

How about just running this program? You don't need to install anything, and it takes a second to run. I'm curious if these processors are still Newcastle 130nm.
http://www.cpuid.org/cpuz.php
Please list "code name" and "technology" values.
Thanks! -
Code Name: Newcastle
Technology Values: 0.13u 1.5v
Hope that helps! -
i also got mine today. all pixels are fine. time to play around with it some more! this is a big mama [8D]
-
AMD Athlon 64 3200+
New Castle Brand ID 4
Socket 939
technology: .13u

Mine just shipped from Ontario, California. Anyone know how much of a wait I should expect for it to reach Michigan?
Also, Costco made sure that the scheduled delivery date is the last day of the 6 week period [?] -
Looks like they have a neverending supply of .13 Newcastles. If they really were waiting on the processors, then AMD is still making them.
