Tried searching, but couldn't really get any usable results (probably user error). From my understanding the DV7T comes with a caddy and requires a special cable. But what about the DV6T? And can I just use any generic ebay caddy that accepts a 12.7mm drive? In my envy, I compared both a neomodeus to a generic ebay one and didn't really see anything that warranted 5x the price. Also, are you able to put an SSD boot drive in the optical slot, and a platter drive in the normal HDD spot? I know with my Envy, I had to learn the hard way that it wasn't possible.

Is it also possible to put the optical drive in an external enclosure? If so, any suggestions? I would hate to waste a good blu ray drive.

Or take that money and just get a DV7 and still have an optical drive all in one.

17" is just too much to lug around. Plus I don't think the DV7T's screen is as nice as the DV6T's.

The dv6t doesn't have a second drive bay.
But as for putting it in the optical drive bay:
Yes, it's possible, but you would need the caddy for it.

You also might want to put the SSD when the platter HDD went,
I know when people do the same mod to Macbooks they have to do that because of problems when booting with the boot drive (most likely ssd) in the optical drive bay.
