I placed my order on feb 5th now its delayed again by two more weeks. Mid March now, wooo! Ive been reading the announcements now on the new dell rolling out and Im just drooling now like when I first saw this compaq. Just the price of 2300 is fairly steep compared to 1500. But wow, that setup and weight reduction just may be worth it.

Anyone else considering a switch that are on this long wait list?

Sandy, what did you order specifically? I ordered a ZD8000 on 2-7 and it has been delayed once already (Haven't been given an updated ship date online or anything, though when I called HP, they said the 28th. Hopefully they don't delay it again. If they do, I may just have to cancel

    Sorry for the delay,

    I ordered a compaq x6000

    530HT
    512MB ram
    60GB 7200 rpm
    256mb ati card

Getting very tempted to outright cancel it now or reorder and drop some components, namely the dual layer dvd and hard disk just to get a laptop sooner now.. I can order those straight through newegg. But today reconfigging the system, despite changining gear its still stating a delivery of around march 21. Either way we're sscrewed I think with compaq which is why Im thinking to just wait on the dell ...prolly get the xp2 or the compaq in april maybe.

Well, I decided to Drop HP. Three shipping/ordering delays was too much. I've decided to go with the Fujitsu N6010 instead. I talked to the guys at PortableOne and looked at the reviews on the fujitsu boards and I was sold. I had a bad experience with Sager and their service, and I figure 2-3 weeks of delays is indicative of what I can expect from HP as a whole. The 2 gig RAM option was available for well over a week after I ordered, and since they are in the practice of removing selections when they are known to be out of stock, this really is a gross failure on their part. Other people may not have had trouble with this, but 3 delays is not something I am willing to tolerate.

Suprising. I actually ordered my zd800 on March 6th, and they originally gave me a ship date of March 25th. Well, on the 18th, I get an e-mail saying that it was shipped. Now gratned, when I got it and turned it on, something inside shorted out and started smoldering hence making it unusable, but it came before they had told me. I did a custom order:

    3.0 Ghz 2MB Cache 800FSB
    XP Pro SP2
    80GB 4200
    1GB 533 DDR2
    8x DVD+/- RW w/Lightscribe
    WiFi

All in all, not bad timing; sucks I have to get rebuilt though.

    3.oGHz Pentium 4 530 CPU, 1 GB DDR2 533 MHz Ram, 80GB 5400 HD, 8x DVD+/-RW w/Lightscribe
