I have a 5340 (3.4 AMD Athlon, 100gig HD, 512 RAM, Broadcom 802.11g, DVD burner...) and have the 64 bit itch!

I'm not in the mood to deal w/ the 64 bit XP beta, plus, I really need to learn Linux for some future projects I have. I'm really wanting to check out Suse Pro 9.2.

Anyway, I'm curious to see who else here has the itch and who's scratched it so far...

Any comments and/or reviews would be great.

And another thing, I'd really love to see some "before and after" performance comparisons from people who've gone from XP to linux, especially 64 bit.

I'd love to try that "SuperPI" utility that's in the Hardware forum and do some 32 bit XP and 64 bit linux comparions.

64-bit Fedora Core 3 works, I'll assume that SuSE 9.2 does too. The only thing that doesn't work is the Linux-hostile Broadcom wireless card. Be sure to get nVidia's video drivers from nvidia.com.

    Thanks!

I ended up getting suse 9.2 last night and putting it on. The only problems I'm having so far are w/ the touchpad. It's detected it as an ALPS, which is correct, but the hardware config utility treats it as a normal two button mouse. So, no tapping or scrolling for now.

I'm having problems finding the Nvidia drivers, so I'm going to look some more later.

And yes, Broadcom sucks massively. Those dullards need to get their game on.

Ah, I forgot about the touchpad. That doesn't work either, though it's possible to make it work.

    Current Linux drivers here:

    http://www.nvidia.com/object/linux_display_amd64_1.0-6629.html

but you may need 6111 from the archive:

if you have the trouble displaying that I did at 1680x1050 res.
