Anyone with experience with this dv7t?

There's currently a pretty good deal for this 17.3" lappy.

With the coupon code (NB8844), the pre-sales tax cost is $599. I'm not a gamer (at least not heavy duty) and on paper, the specs look pretty attractive.

    Thoughts?

It's a good deal, but you could find better ones if you're willing to pay a little more, and search a bit more, I got a 33% off coupon when I bought the newer DV6. My brother has the old DV6 with is basically the same shape and design as this one. It is very light, sturdy, and good all around.

    Questions for you:
    1. What games do you play (want to play?)
    2. What is your maximum price you want to spend?
    3. What are you using it for other than gaming?
    4. Do you care about battery life?

There are things that you might want to consider before buying a laptop (because you want it to last long) like graphics, processor (the i5 is fine), things like Bluetooth, Backlit-keyboard (which this one has an option for I think). Laptops are barely upgradable, so choose wisely. :D
    Good Luck.

I will mostly be using it for work as a desktop replacement so screen real estate is key. I looked briefly at the Fujitsu NH570 but I had an old Fujitsu where the AC adapter plug crapped out and I've read that the problem was common with Fujitsu's of that generation. Dunno if it is still a problem and I decided that the extra inch of screen wasn't worth the extra $300.

Battery life (I will generally use it plugged in), backlight, bluetooth, etc. are unimportant. The most serious gaming I do is Warcraft III so I believe most any integrated processor these days should be sufficient.

Then it's a good deal. Also check out other coupons at offers.com/hp for the newer dv7t and dv7qe, you never know what you might not find.

Sweet! And build quality on these machines is decent? Since I won't be particularly mobile it doesn't have to be great but should be at least ok.
