I did a fresh install of Win XP with slipstreamed SP3 and downloaded Essential system updates for Win XP SP2 from Hp support site. It's 43 MB big and I can't find a definite answer to what those updates really are. Does anyone know any details about them and should I install them?

    Thanks for the answers.

Windows XP Service Pack 3 is basically a giant rollup for SP2. All updates for SP2 are installed. When you install SP3, there are only 2 security updates available from Microsoft Update.

I suspect you do not need that package. I certainly wouldn't install a package made by HP anyway, but that's just me.

ESUs are cumulative hotfixes from Microsoft packaged by HP. If your Windows is up to date, there is no need to install them. There is no harm having them installed as well as far as I know.
