Hi everyone,
Does anyone know if the base model LED-backlit HD anti-glare (1366 x 768) on the 2012 model HP laptops are the same as those used on the 2011s?
The reason I ask is Im looking at 2 different 2011 model laptops which have 1366 x 768 screens and I read multiple complaints about the screen quality in terms of vertical viewing angle, contrast, and visable pixilation in the Elite Book 8460 Owners thread on here. In reality I am not willing to spend an extra $700+ just for the 1600 x 900 screen on a new models so I am hoping I can live with it. I may even purchase an IPS monitor anyway. For the $549 or $679 Ill be paying for one of these, I can spend an extra $200 on a monitor and still come out ahead.
So anyway, I am hoping that a lower end 2012 HP laptop like the HP 650 which is advertising the same resolution might be the same screen as the one listed for the 2011 models I am looking at.
Does anyone know for sure if they are different screens?
Is there a way to decode the Model number and determine that?
I have heard of some companies making that a part of their model number identification codes to determine what hardware is in them.

They would be the same panels, but the backlighting technology might differ
Are 2011 and 2012 1366 x 768 screens the same hardware?
