    I'm about to purchase this type of RAM: OCZ 4096MB PC5400 DDR2 667MHZ SODIMM Memory (2 x 2048MB)

But my system says this about the RAM type I use:
    Type : DDR2-SDRAM PC2-5300 (333 MHz) - [DDR2-666]
    Format : SO-DIMM (67.6 x 3)
    Size : 1024 MB (2 ranks, 4 banks)

    Will the PC5400 work? Thanks!

Either one will work, they are both the same. Here's another post in this forum about this topic:

I hope you realize that you won't be able to use all 4GB of RAM since you don't have a 64-bit OS. Since you only have a 32-bit OS, you'll be able to use 3.2 GB of the RAM. Since you have 2GB of RAM stock that means it is two 1GB sticks, so if you purchased one 2GB stick for now you'll have your 3GB of RAM, and if you decided to upgrade to the 64-bit OS in the future, you just have to purchase another 2GB stick. Just a suggestion though.

Thnaks Envision, I already know that. Don't worry I'll be taking adavantage of the 4GB as I will be using other 64bit OS in my machine.

All of the HP laptops only support DDR2 RAM, so they are called DDR2 PC5400. I don't expect to see DDR3 RAM in HP laptops anytime soon.
