Might buy a 3 month old used laptop which comes with a 1 year HP warranty(9 months left).

He will give me his original receipt too.

Is the original HP warranty transferable to me if I buy this laptop?

I just registered my 8460P with out the receipt. Do you know if your laptop was already registered? Either way, since you have the receipt, you're good to go :)

I think this laptop was originally purchased at BestBuy or Office Depot so it probably was registered to the original owner when he bought it automatically? :)

I believe you have to go to HP.com and enter the serial number to register it.

Also, if you're into extended warranties (with or without Accidental Damage Protection) they can be added within the first year warranty period.

Personally, I find that something always fails on a laptop, so I like the extended warranties. Also, if you have multiple failures, it's actually pretty easy to get the entire machine replaced by HP.
