On my Compaq N410c laptop the battery(s) will no longer charge (primary & secondary). If the batteries (one or both) are present I'll receive the msg "103 charge circuit failure" during Post/bootup. If I unplug/plug the power back in then the error msg does not appear. The front light flashes and the desktop charge icon flashes a blue bolt for 5 to 10 mins and indicates (charging) but never exceeds 0% before disappearing. I never receive the error msg if both batteries are removed before boot-up. Are my Battery(s) bad or is the problem with my system board or power cable/supply. ?

Not real sure but it seems that if it happened to both batteries the I would suspect the charging circuit since the machine will run off of the power supply ok.
