My friend just received her dv3t CTO notebook. It has 4GB ram, P7350 processor, and Intel GMA graphics. Its 2 days old, but when I put my hand next to the grill on the side, which probably has fan running underneath it, its blowing hot air as if there is a furnace underneath it. I used HWmonitor to check temperatures, and its 62 deg C for both cores, 44 deg C for HD, and I am only surfing internet on it. I dont have AC running and room temperature is probably 70 deg F. Is it normal?

Mine usually hovers around 45°C (lower if idle) for both cores, whereas the CPU temp reading is about 40°C. I've managed to get both cores to reach about 62°C, but I had to have Firefox running, have HDTV with Media Center in another window, play a Blu-ray movie with MediaSmart DVD, while accessing some system settings, all at the same time to achieve 62°C... so I think there may be a cooling issue with her unit. 62°C is a little too high for light usage.

Strangely, HDD temp isn't being reported for me in HWMonitor in Vista or in 7.
