Was curious to know if anyone experienced any problems such as heat, compatibility issues or anything else when replacing their old 5,400 RPM hard drive with a 7,200 RPM HDD. I'm thinking about upgrading my 15,4" dv6500t laptop from a 250GB 5,400 RPM hard drive with 8MB cache, to a 200GB 7,200 RPM hard drive with 16MB of cache. Any help would be appreciated.

I upgraded my dv6500t and everything went fine. No need to install drivers or configure anything. Replacing it is easy as well.

You'll be fine. There isn't a big different between the different RPM HDDs. There might be a tiny bit more heat, and a little more power consumption, but nothing that you will ever notice.

it'll be no problem

That's awesome to hear! What drives did you guys put in your dv6500t? I am thinking about THIS one. What do you guys think?

I originally had a DV6000z, which I sold to my brother, then I bought the 9500t and was going to put the same HDD in that you are going to get. I actually returned the 9500t laptop because it didn't have enough power for me and I built a desktop. I figured that I wanted to play the newer games that are out there, and I can use my work laptop for travel. Anyways, the HDD you listed is a good choice!

just curious if there is a pictorial guide for changing out a HD on dv6500 or dv6700 out there?

THANKS R4000.
BTW, I keep hearing that some new laptops are easier to replace HD, Memory, and what not since the access is all from the bottom ... that is why I asked for this document to see if HP is one of them!!!
Thanks again,
G!
Are there potential issues using a 7,200 RPM hard drive in a dv6500t?
