    Hi,

I have a ENVY 14 that I bought from HP this April and it has been displaying Korean characters well for the past 6 months. However, after I did the latest windows update, all the Korean characters in my computer show up as boxes. On Chrome's bookmark bar, all my Korean bookmarks all show up as boxes, and also in windows, all my files that have korean names show up in boxes as well.

I can still type and read korean on webpages and elsewhere fine since I have the Korean IME function.

I did system restores and it did show the font properly in all places again. However, windows constantly tells me to update due to security concerns. I want to update it but then all my text will be in boxes. I can't avoid the windows update forever either. Is there a way to get around this problem? Any solutions??

I am using Windows 7 Home Premium
    ENVY 14
    Intel i5 Core Processor with M580 @ 2.67 GHz
    4 GB Ram
    64-bit OS

I've had this problem show up a couple times myself and I've seen others mention it happening on other Windows 7 systems as well. Nobody gave me a workable answer on Microsoft Answers when I asked there, and I haven't seen anything answering the question elsewhere. However, at least in my case, it only happens maybe once a month and can be solved by restarting the computer. Are you in the same boat, or did it persist across restarts?
