Where is the WAU, Windows Anytime Upgrade folder located in dv5t? Or there isn't any and I have to get an Anytime Upgrade disk elsewhere. For those of you who did a clean install, where did you get the installation disk?

u can download from torrent, just look for msdn vista sp1 (untouched version). Mine is from MSDN site ^^
-
so HP doesn't provide one in its hard drive?
-
Nope you will need to borrow, buy or download a disc.
-
that sucks bigtime.. i think i need to switch to xp..
-
will the msdn one work with the key underneath the laptop?
-
That's what I am working on with my new dvt5... "Upgrading to XP"
-
Yes.
But it is recommended you use the procedure in the Clean Install thread of backing up the activation before you reinstall. This is so you do not need to call up MSFT to activate.
-
yup i know about that. so the msdn one is basically an oem version of vista?
-
With Vista there is no seperate OEM or volume license builds like XP. The MD5 hash of the file you want to download (if you end up doing that) is B09267740DDD1A08D80B04EC6BBC232A (for x86).
-
how do you get the msdn version of vista?
-
Without going in to too much detail as its a bit murky legally (but IMO you already own a Vista license so it's fully legal) you just google the hash I posted above...
-
that's for 32 bit right? is there also a msdn version available for 64 bit?
-
Yup.. for that you'd probably want to google E4CE0B193D94279E4DCE1098D6B5AFEB.
