Alright, I have searched this site for a while now, and have found many different posts relating to the problem I am having: I installed windows XP on my vista laptop and its working 80-90% but the sound comes out of the speakrs and the headphones at the same time. I'm sorry if this is the wrong place to post this, but I tried all the drivers I could find, and nothing worked!

What model laptop do you have? Have you looked at this thread for driver suggestions. Maybe someone who has a similar laptop as your might have found the ideal driver. In any case, this is a driver issue and unfortunately since HP doesnt support XP drivers are not readily available. Another option would be search through the HP business notebook models which are offered with both XP and Vista and see if any of the business models use the same audio device as yours.

Unfortunately theres no ideal drivers for XP on a dv2000 series. They all have issues.

You will definately loose a function or two due to the XP drivers. You either loose a headphone jack or mic function.

Theres been a few threads about this not long ago. Just have a search..

I have a dv2740se. I already searched the forums, and found a few archived threads,

    Like this one.

Unfortunately, the fixes suggested there didn't work. I installed a bunch of drivers, but to no avail. Any advice?
