Anyone having any audio issues with WoW and the dv9000t? I have okay audio in game, but the title music is all static and choppy. There's an update available through windows update for High Definition audio for Conextant so I'm going to see if that helps.

Well, it looks like it's still doing this even with updated drivers from windows update. Turns out the static is happening in game as well. I tried disabling hardware acceleration for the audio and no change.

    Anyone have any ideas?

Vista's compatibility in general with games isn't the greatest. You'd probably have better luck going over to the WoW forums and seeing if anyone has any general issues with Vista over there. Sorry we can't really help you here.

No problem. I just didn't know if this was related to the audio issues I heard about with vista and dv series. I guess that's limited to those that upgraded from XP to vista? Thanks!

The audio problem is related to many computers running WoW and Vista - not just HP computers. The choppy sound is issued on the World of Warcraft community forums:

    http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html;jsessionid=F3EC9FD7B397277B2DBFC56AE674882F?topicId=76819853&sid=1

I have a dv6000t running Windows Vista Premium and shutting off "Triple Buffering" under the Vertical Sync tab in World of Warcraft Graphic Settings made the sound go away. However, in the nVidia control panel I have Vertical Sync and Triple Buffering forced on and all sound still works fine. I think the issue has something to do with WoW not playing well with the sound and video drivers in Windows Vista. Hope this helps!

Good to know it's just a WoW problem, which can hopefully be fixed in the future. Hardware or bad drivers require more prayer to get anything done! :p

I managed to fix it by disabling the v-sync in WoW itself.

I know this post is outdated, but I was having this very issue up until last night and came across this page so I figured I'd post to help out anyone else having this issue.

I have a HP dv9000 (dv9235nr precisely) and had this startup screen chopping/clipping in the audio only on the startup screen. Last night I found an update through nVidia's webpage (this took some patience in this case for some reason as it seemed to be buried) and whalla! The audio is perfect and the video is more slick than ever. Still having moderate to low fps although this driver update did help some. This seems to be a windows vista issue from all the reading i've done, ...but I'm planning on adding an extra gig of ram tonight to see what that'll do since several users with 2gigs of ram claim to have super fps rates.
